Warlords Of Atlantis
''Warlords of Atlantis'' (aka ''Warlords of the Deep'', though see below for further variant titles) is a 1978 British adventure science fiction film directed by Kevin Connor and starring Doug McClure, Peter Gilmore, Shane Rimmer, and Lea Brodie. The plot describes a trip to the lost world of Atlantis. The screenplay was by Brian Hayles. It was filmed in colour with monophonic sound and English language dialogue, and runs for 96 minutes. ''Warlords of Atlantis'' received a Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) rating of PG. It was novelised by Paul Victor. Plot At the beginning of the 20th century, British archaeologist Professor Aitken and his son, Charles, have hired Captain Daniels and his ship, the ''Texas Rose'', to take them to sea. Kevin Connor (director)
Kevin Connor (born 14 July 1937) is an English film and television director based in Hollywood. Biography Connor was born in Kings Cross, London on 14 July 1937. He left school in 1953, first working on documentary films in Soho. Later, he became a sound editor on several British productions, working with directors such as Tony Richardson, Richard Attenborough, Richard Lester, Abraham Polonsky and Michael Cacoyannis. Connor worked as an editor on ''Oh! What a Lovely War'' in 1969, and was eventually given his directing break with ''From Beyond the Grave'' in 1974, thanks to producer Milton Subotsky of Amicus Productions. Diving Bell
A diving bell is a rigid chamber used to transport divers from the surface to depth and back in open water, usually for the purpose of performing underwater work. The most common types are the open-bottomed wet bell and the closed bell, which can maintain an internal pressure greater than the external ambient. Diving bells are usually suspended by a cable, and lifted and lowered by a winch from a surface support platform. Unlike a submersible, the diving bell is not designed to move under the control of its occupants, or to operate independently of its launch and recovery system. The wet bell is a structure with an airtight chamber which is open to the water at the bottom, that is lowered underwater to operate as a base or a means of transport for a small number of divers. Cyd Charisse
Cyd Charisse (born Tula Ellice Finklea; March 8, 1922 – June 17, 2008) was an American dancer and actress. After recovering from polio as a child and studying ballet, Charisse entered films in the 1940s. Her roles usually featured her abilities as a dancer, and she was often paired with Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly. Her films included '' Singin' in the Rain'' (1952), '' The Band Wagon'' (1953), '' Brigadoon'' (1954), and ''Silk Stockings'' (1957). Robert James Brown (23 July 192111 November 2003) was an English actor, best known for his portrayal of M in the James Bond films from 1983 to 1989, succeeding Bernard Lee, who died in 1981. Brown made his first appearance as M in ''Octopussy'' in 1983. Brown was born in Swanage, Dorset, and later died there on November 11, 2003, aged 82. Derry Power (born 1935) is an Irish actor born in Dublin. He appeared in the first production of Brendan Behan's The Quare Fellow at Dublin's Pike Theatre in 1954. He is best known for playing management genius Seamus Finnegan in the BBC Television sitcom ''The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin'', with the classic line "Would you be having a joke there with a simple, tongue-tied Irishman from the land of the bogs and the little people?". Michael Alan Gothard (24 June 19392 December 1992) was an English actor, who portrayed Kai in the television series '' Arthur of the Britons'' and the mysterious villain Emile Leopold Locque in the 1981 James Bond film '' For Your Eyes Only''. ''Mary Celeste'' (; often erroneously referred to as ''Marie Celeste'') was a Canadian-built, American-registered merchant brigantine that was discovered adrift and deserted in the Atlantic Ocean off the Azores on December 4, 1872. The Canadian brigantine found her in a dishevelled but seaworthy condition under Reefing, partial sail and with her lifeboat missing. The last entry in her log was dated ten days earlier. She had left New York City for Genoa on November 7 and was still amply provisioned when found. Her cargo of alcohol was intact, and the captain's and crew's personal belongings were undisturbed. Benjamin Spooner Briggs (April 24, 1835 – likely November 1872) was an experienced American seaman and master mariner. He was the captain of the merchant ship ''Mary Celeste,'' which was discovered unmanned and drifting in the Atlantic Ocean midway between the Azores and the coast of Portugal on December 4, 1872.
