Wanzhou Railway Bridge
The Yiwan Railway Wanzhou Yangtze River Bridge is an arch bridge in Wanzhou District, Chongqing, China. The bridge was completed in 2005 and carries the Yichang−Wanzhou Railway across the Yangtze River. The bridge spans making it one of the longest arch bridges in the world. Wanzhou
Wanzhou District () is Chongqing's second most populated urban core area on the upper reaches of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River in China. It is currently governed as a district of Chongqing Municipality, bordering Sichuan to the northwest and Hubei to the southeast. It was formerly known as Wanxian or Wan County (). Prior to Chongqing's formation as a direct-controlled municipality, Wanzhou was part of Sichuan province. The urban core of Wanzhou is away from Chongqing's city proper. "Wanzhou" literally means "myriad-prefecture", where "a myriad rivers converge and a myriad traders gather" (). Wanzhou Bridge
Wanxian Bridge, or Wanzhou Bridge (), is a reinforced concrete arch bridge built over the Yangtze River in 1997. It is located in the vicinity of the Three Gorges Dam in Wanzhou, Chongqing, China. The arch span is and the total length of the bridge is . The clearance height to the river below is however the full clearance is no longer visible as the reservoir created by the construction of the Three Gorges Dam has increased the height of the water. During the bridge construction, a concrete-filled tubular arch truss frame was built to support the weight of the concrete arch and embedded into the concrete arch. The Wanxian Bridge is the longest existing concrete arch bridge in the world, displacing the previous record holder, the Croatian Krk Bridge. Second Wanzhou Bridge
The Second Wanzhou Yangtze River Bridge (万州长江二桥) is a suspension bridge over the Yangtze River in Wanzhou District of Chongqing, China. Completed in 2004, it has a main span of places it among the longest suspension spans in the world. Accidents On 29 October 2018, a bus plunged off the Second Wanzhou Yangtze River Bridge into the Yangtze River, resulting in 13 deaths and 2 missing, without anybody confirmed alive.
