Wang Ning (linguist)
Wang Ning (; born 1936), a native of Haining, Zhejiang Province, is a Chinese linguist and professor at Beijing Normal University. She studied under the linguist Lu Zongda ( zh, 陆宗达), and her main research interests include exegesis, philology, and the semantics of Chinese vocabulary. Haining
() is a county-level city in Zhejiang Province, China, and under the jurisdiction of Jiaxing. It is in the south side of Yangtze River Delta, and in the north of Zhejiang. It is to the southwest of central Shanghai, and east of Hangzhou, the provincial capital. To its south lies the Qiantang River. The city has a land area of and as of the 2020 census, had a population of 1,076,199 inhabitants. Haining is known for its leather industry and spectacular tide in the Qiantang River. Lu Zongda
Lu Zongda (, 19051988), courtesy name Yingmin (一作颖明), a native of Cixi, Zhejiang Province, was a Chinese textual exegete under the tutelage of linguistic and philological scholars Huang Kan (黄侃) and Zhang Taiyan (章太炎). Biography In 1911, Lu Zongda went to study in a school; in 1914, he took the examination for the primary school of Normal University; in 1918, he was admitted to Shuntian Middle School; in 1922, he was admitted to the Department of Chinese Literature of the Preparatory Course of Peking University; in 1924, he was admitted to the undergraduate program of Peking University. In the spring of 1928, he and Huang Zhuo went to Nanjing to study under Huang Kan, and in June, he graduated from Peking University. Chinese characters are logographs used Written Chinese, to write the Chinese languages and others from regions historically influenced by Chinese culture.
