Walter Richard Pollock Hamilton Victoria Cross, VC (18 August 1856 – 3 September 1879) was born in Inistioge, County Kilkenny and was an Irish people, Irish recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to United Kingdom, British and Commonwealth of Nations, Commonwealth forces. He is featured in M. M. Kaye, M. M. Kaye's epic novel ''The Far Pavilions''. Details Hamilton was a great nephew of General Sir George Pollock who led the Army of Retribution in the First Afghan War. Walter Hamilton (Master Of Magdalene College)
Walter Hamilton (10 February 1908 – 1988) was the son of Walter George Hamilton, a tea trader in the City of London, and his wife, Caroline Mary Stiff, a schoolmistress. He attended university at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he was awarded a first-class BA degree in Classics. He won the Craven University Scholarship in 1927, Chancellor's Classical Medal in 1928 and Porson Prize in the same year. He was awarded a distinction in Part II of the Classical Tripos in 1929. He was a fellow of Trinity between 1931 and 1935. He was also an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Manchester from 1931-32. He was an Assistant Master at Eton from 1933 to 1946, and was Master in College there from 1937 to 1946. In 1946 he returned to Trinity College, serving as Fellow and Classical Lecturer until 1950, and as a tutor from 1947. Walter Andrew Hamilton (June 9, 1901 - March 28, 1946) was a pioneer in the airline industry. Hamilton was a co-founder of Standard Air Lines and through a series of airline mergers became one of the "Three Musketeers" running Trans World Airlines. Early life Hamilton was born to Wilbur and Martha (Stellmacher) Hamilton on June 9, 1901, in Los Angeles, California. He became a mechanic for the Duesenberg Motors Company. Aviation career Hamilton learned to fly at Burdett Field in Los Angeles by instructor Burdett Fuller. Hamilton became good friends with two other pilots he met there, Jack Frye and Paul E. Richter. Walter Hamilton (politician)
Walter Alfred Hamilton (10 March 1863 – 1 September 1955) was an Australian politician. He was a public accountant, auditor and general manager before entering politics. Hamilton was born near Glenelg, South Australia and educated at Glenelg Grammar School. He was a Labor member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly for Sandhurst from 1894 until 1900, when he fell out with Labor and ran for re-election and lost as a supporter of Premier Allan McLean. He was re-elected to his old seat as an unaligned candidate in 1902, but was defeated for the new seat of Bendigo West in 1904 after his old seat was abolished. He was elected to the South Australian House of Assembly in 1917, winning a 1917 by-election for the seat of East Torrens for the Liberal Union. Walter Kerr Hamilton
Walter Kerr Hamilton (16 November 1808 – 1 August 1869) was a Church of England priest, Bishop of Salisbury from 1854 until his death. Life He was born in 1808, educated at Eton College, tutored by Thomas Arnold, and then attended Christ Church, University of Oxford, where he took a first class degree in Greats. He was elected to a Fellowship at Merton College, Oxford in 1832. He was made deacon in 1833 and ordained priest in December of the same year. He was a curate at Wolvercote 1833–34, then served as curate to Edward Denison, another Fellow at Merton and vicar at the parish of St Peter-in-the-East. Upon Denison's appointment as Bishop of Salisbury in 1837, Hamilton succeeded him as vicar, remaining until 1841. He subsequently became a canon-resident of Salisbury.
