Wally Armstrong
Walter Armstrong, III (born June 19, 1945) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour during the 1970s and 1980s. Armstrong was born in New London, Connecticut. He attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, where he played for coach Buster Bishop's Florida Gators men's golf team in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) competition from 1965 to 1967. This is a list of the 1982 PGA Tour Qualifying School graduates. 50 players earned their 1983 PGA Tour card through Q-School in 1982. The tournament was played over 108 holes at the Tournament Players Club in Ponte Vedra, Florida. The top 30 players split the $50,000 purse, with the winner earning $9,000. This was the first qualifying school during the PGA Tour's the "All-exempt Tour" era. All graduates had full status on the PGA Tour the subsequent year. 1973 PGA Tour Qualifying School Graduates
This is a list of the 1973 PGA Tour Qualifying School graduates. Tournament summary The tournament returned to a 144-hole final. After three 72-hole regional qualifiers, there were 78 players in the final field. The first four rounds were played at Perdido Bay Country Club in Pensacola, Florida in mid-October and the final four at Dunes Golf Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina the following week. They changed courses because the tour was attempting to prepare participants what week-to-week life would be like if they graduated onto the PGA Tour. Ben Crenshaw won the event by 12 strokes. Recently one of the leading amateurs in the country, Crenshaw "gave more credence to projections that he would become golf's next dominating player."
