Walled Lake, Michigan
Walled Lake is a city in Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. A northwestern suburb of Detroit, Walled Lake is located roughly northwest of downtown Detroit. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 7,246. History The town's name is said to have been given by the first American settler, Walter Hewitt, in 1825. Upon his arrival, he noticed what appeared to be a stone wall along the western bank of a nearby lake, possibly constructed by earlier Potawatomi Indian tribes. Walled Lake was a village inhabited by Ojibwa and Potowatamie people until about 1830. It appears that these people had relocated from an earlier village in the area that is today Southfield. Resting spots along the Underground Railroad, where runaway slaves could sleep and eat, were called " depots". The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), more commonly known as the International Baccalaureate (IB), is a nonprofit foundation headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, and founded in 1968. Randy Huntington (born ) is an American track and field coach. He is one of the five rated USATF Master Coaches for jumps in the U.S. Seven of his athletes have been in the U.S. all-time top 10 in their events. He has coached Mike Powell (long jumper), Mike Powell and Willie Banks, who set world records in the long jump and triple jump events, respectively. He later moved to China where he worked as a coach for the Chinese national track and field team. Cameron Scott Vieaux (born December 5, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher who is a free agent. He has previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He made his MLB debut in 2022. Amateur career Vieaux graduated from Walled Lake Western High School in Commerce Township, Michigan. He played baseball for Walled Lake Western, but was not drafted out of high school. Vieaux enrolled at Michigan State University and walked on to the Michigan State Spartans baseball team. In 2015, as a redshirt sophomore, Vieaux had a 4–7 win–loss record and a 3.49 earned run average (ERA). He then played collegiate summer baseball with the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Josh Jones (born September 20, 1994) is an American former professional football safety. He played college football at NC State, and was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the second round of the 2017 NFL draft. He has also played for the Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars. David Jonathan Booth (born November 24, 1984) is an American professional ice hockey forward for the Melbourne Ice of the Australian Ice Hockey League.
