Wallace Park is a city park in northwest Portland, Oregon, United States. Description and history The park was acquired in 1920, and is named after Hugh W. Wallace, the city councilman responsible for getting the property allocated as a city park. One art installation in the park is a 1980 sculpture by Manuel Izquierdo called '' Silver Dawn''. Also located within the park and surrounding school yard exist eleven bronze objects, created by artist Bill Will in 1998, "tucked away in unexpected places". Northwest District, Portland, Oregon
The Northwest District is a densely populated retail and residential neighborhood in the northwest section of Portland, Oregon. Craftsman-style and Old Portland-style houses are packed tightly together with grand old apartment buildings and sleek new condominiums, within walking distance of restaurants, bars, and shops. The Portland Streetcar's first line (the NS Line) terminates there, connecting the district to the Pearl District, Downtown Portland and points south to the South Waterfront, and several TriMet bus lines also serve the district. Manuel Izquierdo
Manuel Izquierdo (September 26, 1925 – July 17, 2009) was a sculptor and woodcut artist. He is best known for his abstract, organic welded-metal sculptural forms and his sturdy woodcut prints. Izquierdo was born Manuel Izquierdo Torres in Madrid, Spain, in 1925, the son of a bricklayer. He and his siblings fled Spain in 1936, spending some years in France and finally moving to the United States in 1942 through the help of the American Friends Service Committee, settling in Portland, Oregon. After graduating from the Museum Art School (now known as the Pacific Northwest College of Art) under sculptor Frederic Littman in 1951, Izquierdo taught there for the next 46 years. His work was shown throughout the northwestern United States, as well as in a collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. He received the Oregon Governor's Arts Award in 1991. ''Silver Dawn'' is an outdoor 1980 stainless steel sculpture by Spanish American artist Manuel Izquierdo, installed at Wallace Park in northwest Portland, Oregon, in the United States. Description and history ''Silver Dawn'' is a stainless steel sculpture designed by Manuel Izquierdo, who moved to Portland and became professor emeritus at his alma mater Museum Art School (now Pacific Northwest College of Art) after fleeing Spain following the Spanish–American War. Forest Park is a public municipal park in the Tualatin Mountains west of downtown Portland, Oregon, United States. Stretching for more than on hillsides overlooking the Willamette River, it is one of the country's largest urban forest reserves. The park, a major component of a regional system of parks and trails, covers more than of mostly second-growth forest with a few patches of old growth. KATU (channel 2) is a television station in Portland, Oregon, United States, affiliated with ABC. It is owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group alongside La Grande–licensed Univision affiliate KUNP (channel 16). Both stations share studios on NE Sandy Boulevard in Portland, while KATU's transmitter is located in the Sylvan-Highlands section of the city.
