"Walkaway" is the fourth single by Liverpool Britpop band Cast, fronted by ex-the La's bassist John Power. The song is taken from their debut album, '' All Change'' (1995). Released in March 1996, it reached number nine on the UK Singles Chart. The song would be used in the closing footage of the BBC's coverage of England's semi-final match of Euro 96. Cast are an English indie rock band formed in Liverpool in 1992 by John Power (musician), John Power (vocals, guitar) and Peter Wilkinson (bass guitarist), Peter Wilkinson (bass, backing vocals) after Power left The La's and Wilkinson's former band Shack (band), Shack had split. Following early line-ups with different guitarists and drummers, Liam Tyson, Liam "Skin" Tyson (guitar) and Keith O'Neill (drums) joined Cast in 1993. The 1996 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as Euro 96, was the 10th UEFA European Championship, a quadrennial football tournament contested by European nations and organised by UEFA. Liam Tyson
Liam Sean "Skin" Tyson (born 7 September 1969 in Liverpool) is an English guitarist, best known as the lead guitarist for Cast. Tyson's first band, Pyramid Dream, gigged regularly around Liverpool in the late 1980s and early '90s. The band released one cassette album and appeared on compilation LP "One Summer In Liverpool". In 1991, the band toured Russia as part of a cultural exchange tour organised by Liverpool City Council. Tyson didn't contribute greatly to the compositions of this band, however his contribution lying in "total dedication to his instrument". In 1994 Tyson joined Cast, the band formed by former La's bass player John Power. The band went on to sign to Polydor and released 3 studio albums, All Change, Mother Nature Calls and Magic Hour. Leslie Peter Wilkinson (born 9 May 1969 in Liverpool) in an English people, English bass player and singer-songwriter, formerly of Shack (band), Shack, Cast (band), Cast, and Echo & the Bunnymen. Additionally, he is the Co owner of AV8 Records ltd (with Nick Graff). He is currently concentrating on his Aviator project and has recently performed with Shack (band), Shack. Biography Although having taught himself to play bass at an early age by listening to New wave music, new wave bands such as The Stranglers and Siouxsie and the Banshees, Wilkinson took an interest in jazz and went on to tour the jazz circuit across the north west of England and North Wales. He gained a college diploma in the genre before deciding that he would never be able to move out of the small clubs he was already playing whilst playing jazz.
