Walk East On Beacon!
''Walk East on Beacon'' is a 1952 American film noir drama film directed by Alfred L. Werker and starring George Murphy, Finlay Currie, and Virginia Gilmore. It was released by Columbia Pictures. The screenplay was inspired by a May 1951 ''Reader's Digest'' article by J. Edgar Hoover entitled "The Crime of the Century: The Case of the A-Bomb Spies." The article covers the meeting of German physicist and atomic spy Klaus Fuchs and American chemist Harry Gold as well as details of the Soviet espionage network in the United States. Gold's testimony would later lead to the case against Julius and Ethel Rosenberg for treason. The film substitutes real atomic spying with vague top secret scientific programs. Fawcett Comics, a division of Fawcett Publications, was one of several successful comic book publishers during the Golden Age of Comic Books in the 1940s. Ernest Graves (May 5, 1919 – June 1, 1983) was an American actor. Born in Chicago, Graves was a regular on the NBC drama ''Today Is Ours'' (1958). He also was featured on several daytime soap operas, including ''Guiding Light'', ''The Edge of Night'', ''As the World Turns'', and '' Another World''. Karl Weber (March 17, 1916 – July 30, 1990) was an actor in the era of old-time radio. Early years A native of Columbus Junction, Iowa, Weber attended Cornell College and was a graduate of the University of Iowa. He had three brothers and two sisters. Stage Before going into radio, Weber acted with Shakespearean troupes in the Midwest. In the late 1940s, he helped to found the New Stages off- Broadway group in New York City. Jack Manning (born Jack Wilson Marks, June 3, 1916 – August 31, 2009) was an American film, television and theater character actor, teacher and stage director. Biography Early years Manning was born Jack Wilson Marks in Cincinnati, Ohio. He developed an interest in acting while he was a student at the University of Cincinnati, where he earned his bachelor's degree in economics in 1938. During his college years, Manning appeared in students musicals and plays, as well as on WLW radio. He changed his professional name to Jack Manning early in his acting career, after he was advised that "Jack Marks" was too short to appear on a theater marquee or sign. Peter Capell
Peter Capell (3 September 1912 – 3 March 1986) was a German actor who was active on screen from 1945 until 1985. Apart from a lengthy film career, he appeared in many television series and mini-series. He appeared in many old time radio programs including the series '' Dimension X''. His first role was in '' Winterset'', shortly after the end of the Second World War. His final role came a year before his death, when he appeared in ''Mamas Geburtstag''. Both of these were television productions. He also appeared in many films, including ''Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory'' (1971). Capell was also in Stanley Kubrick's 1957 war film ''Paths of Glory'' (he also narrated the film's opening sequence), co-starring Kirk Douglas.
