Wakker Dier
Wakker Dier () is a Dutch animal welfare organisation. Its main purpose is putting an end to factory farming. Wakker Dier was founded in 1997 and fused with the organisation ''Lekker Dier'' in 2001, but the name didn't change. Factory Farming
Intensive animal farming, industrial livestock production, and macro-farms, also known as factory farming, is a type of intensive agriculture, specifically an approach to mass animal husbandry designed to maximize production while minimizing costs. Marianne Thieme
Marianne Louise Thieme (; born 6 March 1972) is a Dutch politician, author and animal rights activist. A jurist and theologian by education, she served as the Party for the Animals' political leader from 2002 to 2019 and a member of the House of Representatives from 2006 to 2019. Early life and career Thieme studied at Duno College in Doorwerth. After that she studied from 1991 to 1992 at the Sorbonne in Paris, France. From 1992 she studied law at Erasmus University Rotterdam with a specialization in administrative law. During this time she became a vegetarian. Her interest in animal rights motivated her to start studying law. Thieme graduated in 1997. From 1998 to 2001 Thieme worked at research agency B&A Group in The Hague. Battery Cage
Battery cages are a housing system used by factory farms for various animal production methods, but primarily for egg-laying hens. The name arises from the arrangement of rows and columns of identical cages connected, in a unit, as in an artillery battery. Unox () is a food brand of Unilever that is available in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Much of the brand has been divested to Zwanenberg group with effect from December 2024 with Unilever retaining the Cup-a-soup and instant noodle lines.
