Wajid Khan, Baron Khan Of Burnley
Wajid Iltaf Khan, Baron Khan of Burnley (born 15 October 1979), is a British Labour Party politician who served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for North West England from 2017 to 2019 and as Mayor of Burnley from 2020 to 2021. He has served as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Faith, Communities and Resettlement since July 2024. He sat on the Foreign Affairs Committee and Human Rights Committee, as well as the Arab Peninsula and South Asia delegations. His main policy interests include workers’ rights, youth empowerment and human rights. In December 2020, it was announced he would be conferred a life peerage after a nomination by Labour Party Leader Keir Starmer. Wajid Khan (Canadian Politician)
Wajid Ali Khan (born April 24, 1946) is a Canadian businessman and politician. Between 2004 and 2008, he was a member of the House of Commons of Canada, representing the riding of Mississauga—Streetsville initially as a Liberal and then as a Conservative Member of Parliament. In March 2018, he was arrested by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and charged with three counts of fraud, three counts of false pretense and one count of uttering a forged document. The fraud charges were subsequently withdrawn in March 2022. Early life Khan served as an officer and a pilot in the Pakistan Air Force from 1966 to 1973. He took part in the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971 as a Shenyang F-6 fighter pilot. He moved to Toronto in 1974.
