Wage Board
The Worker Standards Board, Wage Board or Industry Committee aims to improve wages and working conditions for all workers within a specific industry. When implemented along with other regional labor policies, such as paid family leave, the Worker Standards Board is a useful alternative or supplement to a collective bargaining agreement and a formal labor union, when the situation does not support a union. The Board can create industry-specific standards above the legislated minimum labor policies. The fair competition created by an industry labor standard can benefit employers, as well as employees, because, when enforced, it creates a level playing field. The Labor Management Relations Act, 1947, better known as the Taft–Hartley Act, is a Law of the United States, United States federal law that restricts the activities and power of trade union, labor unions. It was enacted by the 80th United States Congress over the veto of President Harry S. Truman, becoming law on June 23, 1947. Taft–Hartley was introduced in the aftermath of a major Strike wave of 1945–46, strike wave in 1945 and 1946. A company or "yellow" union is a worker organization which is dominated or unduly influenced by an employer and is therefore not an independent trade union.
