WWOW
WWOW (1360 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Conneaut, Ohio, broadcasting an oldies format. Owned by Matthew Jarvi, the station serves the eastern portions of Greater Cleveland and Northwestern Pennsylvania. The station's transmitter resides off of Middle Road in Conneaut. History WWOW first went on-air in 1959. The station operated at that time with a daytime-only power of 500 watts. The construction permit for WWOW was first issued in November 1957. In 1964, the station's owner signed on sister station WFIZ, also licensed to Conneaut. In 1967, WWOW applied for pre-sunrise authorization, allowing it to sign on two hours prior to local sunrise. This petition was challenged by Jupiter Broadcasting, licensee of WSAI. The challenge was denied by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). WGOJ (105.5 FM) is a radio station licensed to Conneaut, Ohio, serving Ashtabula County, Ohio, Erie County, Pennsylvania, and most of Crawford County, Pennsylvania. WGOJ's studios are located on Mill Street in Conneaut, while the transmitter resides in Albion, Pennsylvania. The station broadcasts a Christian talk and teaching format. Ashtabula, Ohio
Ashtabula ( ) is the most populous city in Ashtabula County, Ohio, United States. It lies at the mouth of the Ashtabula River, on Lake Erie, northeast of Cleveland. At the 2020 census, the city had 17,975 people. Like many other cities in the Rust Belt, it has lost population because of a decline in industrial jobs since the 1960s. It is part of the Cleveland metropolitan area. In the middle of the 19th century, the city was an important destination on the Underground Railroad as refugee slaves took ships across Lake Erie to Canada. In the late 19th century, the city became a major coal port on Lake Erie. Coal and iron were shipped here, the latter from the Mesabi Range in Minnesota.
