WVAC-FM (107.9 Hertz, MHz) is a campus radio station broadcasting a Top 40 and Alternative Rock format. The station is licensed to Adrian College, located on 110 S. Maddison Street. The station has legally been ''107.9 WVAC-FM'' rather than simply ''WVAC'' since 1991. From then until 2002, the WVAC calls were used by an AM station in Norwalk, Ohio (now WLKR (AM), WLKR). In the 1968 till 1974 WVAC, the "Voice at Curry", was a carrier-current AM station at Curry College, Milton MA which later became WMLN-FM. Adrian, Michigan
Adrian is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Lenawee County, Michigan, Lenawee County. The population was 20,645 at the 2020 United States census, 2020 census. Adrian lies in Michigan's 5th congressional district. The city has a significant student population, because it is home to Siena Heights University and Adrian College. Alternative Rock
Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. Alternative rock acts achieved mainstream success in the 1990s with the likes of the grunge subgenre in the United States, and the Britpop and shoegaze subgenres in the United Kingdom and Ireland. WLKR (1510 kHz) – branded ''92.9 WLKR Classic'' – is a commercial daytime-only classic hits AM radio station licensed to serve Norwalk, Ohio, covering the Norwalk/ Sandusky/ Port Clinton market (collectively referred to as Vacationland and/or the Firelands), including Erie and Huron counties. Owned by Elyria-Lorain Broadcasting Co., the WLKR studios are located in Milan, while the station transmitter resides near the intersection of Huber Road and Lamereaux Road just outside of Norwalk. Norwalk is a city in Huron County, Ohio, United States, and its county seat. The population was 17,068 at the 2020 census.
