WTOP-FM (103.5 FM) – branded "WTOP Radio" and "WTOP News" – is a commercial all-news radio station licensed to serve Washington, D.C. Owned by Hubbard Broadcasting, the station serves the Washington metropolitan area, extending its reach through two repeater stations: WTLP (103.9 FM) in Braddock Heights, Maryland, and WWWT-FM (107.7) in Manassas, Virginia. The WTOP-FM studios, referred to on-air as the "WTOP Glass-Enclosed Nerve Center", are located on Wisconsin Avenue in the Washington D.C. suburb of Chevy Chase, Maryland, while the station transmitter is located on the American University campus. Besides a standard analog transmission, WTOP-FM broadcasts over three HD Radio channels, and is available online. WFED (1500 AM broadcasting, AM) is a 50,000-watt List of broadcast station classes, Class A radio station in Washington, D.C. The station owned by Hubbard Broadcasting, and branded "Federal News Network", broadcasts a news/talk format focused on issues and news pertaining to members and staff of the United States government. WFED's studios are located at Hubbard's broadcast complex in northwest Washington, while its transmitter site is located at a three-tower array in Wheaton, Maryland. The station transmits full-time with a power of 50,000 watts. A single transmitter tower, with a Omnidirectional antenna, non-directional signal, is used during the day. It simulcasts the freeform programming branded as ''The Gamut'' originating on the HD3 subchannel of sister station WTOP-FM. WBQH (1050 AM) is a radio broadcasting station in the Washington, D.C. region, licensed to Silver Spring, Maryland. It broadcasts a regional Mexican format. It is owned by Hubbard Broadcasting, and is leased to United Media Group LLC. WBQH programming is heard on FM translator W228DI (93.5), also in Silver Spring. WBQH by day broadcasts with power of 2,000 watts from the WFED transmitter site in Wheaton, Maryland. Because 1050 AM is a Mexican clear channel frequency reserved for XEG in Monterrey, WBQH reduces power to 41 watts at night to prevent interference. WHUR-FM (96.3 Hertz, MHz) is an urban adult contemporary radio station that is licensed to Washington, D.C., and serving the Washington metropolitan area, Metro D.C. area. It is owned and operated by Howard University, making it one of the few commercial radio stations in the United States to be owned by a college or university, as well as being the only independent, locally-owned station in the Washington, D.C., area. Staff members of the station mentor the students of the university's school of communications. The studios are located on campus in its Lower Quad portion, and the transmitter tower is based in the Tenleytown neighborhood.
