WSTJ (1340 AM, "The Trail 104.1") is a radio station broadcasting an adult album alternative format. Licensed to St. Johnsbury, Vermont, United States, the station is currently owned by Vermont Broadcast Associates, Inc. WSTJ is an affiliate of the Boston Red Sox Radio Network. History Twin State Broadcasters, Inc., obtained a construction permit for a new 250-watt radio station to serve St. Johnsbury on 1340 kHz on May 25, 1949. WTWN had its formal opening on July 10, 1949; the original studios were built atop what had been a manure pit on a farm. Two years later, it lived up to its Twin States moniker when it established a satellite studio in Littleton, New Hampshire. The Boston Red Sox Radio Network is an American radio network composed of 54 radio stations which carry English language coverage of the Boston Red Sox, a professional baseball team in Major League Baseball (MLB). Lawrence, Massachusetts station WEEI-FM (93.7 FM), which serves Boston and the Greater Boston area, serves as the network's Flagship. The network also includes 53 affiliates in the U.S. states of Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, and Florida: 29 AM stations, 24 of which supplement their signals with one or more FM translators; and 24 full-power FM stations, one of which supplement its signal with several FM translators. WMTK (106.3 MHz ''106.3 The Notch'') is a classic rock formatted station located in northern New Hampshire. It is licensed to Littleton, and is owned by the Vermont Broadcast Associates, Inc., along with WSTJ, WKXH, and WGMT. Programming is also simulcast on 1490/103.1 WIKE in Newport, Vermont. Both stations call themselves "The Notch." History On August 1, 1985, WMTK became the first local commercial FM station to sign on in the North Country of New Hampshire and Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. The station began with a country music format, a local morning show, with local news and weather inserted throughout the day. Caledonia County is a county located in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Vermont. As of the 2020 census, the population was 30,233. Its shire town (county seat) is the town of St. Johnsbury. The county was created in 1792 and organized in 1796. Newport is a city and the county seat of Orleans County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 Census, the population was 4,455. The city contains the second-largest population of any municipality in the county (only neighboring Derby is larger), and has the smallest geographic area.
