WSAQ-FM
WSAQ (107.1 FM) is a country music radio station licensed to Port Huron, Michigan, with an effective radiated power of 6,000 watts. WSAQ covers St. Clair County, Michigan and Lambton County, Ontario as well as portions of Macomb, Lapeer, and Sanilac counties. The station is owned by Radio First and broadcasts from studios on Huron Avenue in Downtown Port Huron. History In 1964, the station signed on for the first time as WHLS-FM. Featuring a simulcast of the AM station and then later a beautiful music format, it was soon renamed WSAQ, and adopted a country music format in spring 1982. In 1999, original owner John Wismer died, and both WHLS and WSAQ were sold to Liggett Communications as part of Wismer's estate. Liggett also acquired then competitor Hanson Communications, owner of 1590 WHLX, 1380 WPHM, and 96.9 WBTI. Port Huron, Michigan
Port Huron is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of St. Clair County. The population was 30,184 at the 2010 census. The city is adjacent to Port Huron Township but is administered separately. Located along the St. Clair River, it is connected to Point Edward, Ontario in Canada via the Blue Water Bridge. WPHM (1380 AM) is a news/ talk/sports radio station licensed to Port Huron, Michigan, with a power output of 5,000 watts, covering much of The Thumb area of Michigan. The station is owned by Radio First and broadcasts from studios on Huron Avenue in Downtown Port Huron. Blue Water Weather Telephone Service
In the 1970s the American radio station WSAQ of Port Huron, Michigan partnered with Weatherline, Inc. to provide local weather forecast to the Greater Port Huron area by calling a local telephone number. When the service was released in the 1970s the telephone number was (313) 987–8100, however, when the area code changed in 1993 to 810, the number was changed to (810) 987–8100. Historically the free weather telephone service provided information about the sponsor and then the local forecast. In 2015, WSAQ discontinued the service and the telephone number (810) 987-8100 was released back to AT&T to be reissued. In 2016, Steven A Heisler, the founder of the Heisler Law Group, became aware the community lost the free telephone weather forecast service and requested AT&T to issue his firm the telephone number. McMorran Place
McMorran Arena is an entertainment complex in Port Huron, Michigan consisting of a 4,800-seat multi-purpose arena and a theater. It was designed by Alden B. CHOK (1070 AM) is a Canadian radio station, licensed to Sarnia, Ontario and owned by Blackburn Radio. The station broadcasts a country format with local news, talk and sports. CHOK also has an FM translator, CHOK-1-FM, broadcasting at 103.9 MHz. The station is the radio home of the Toronto Blue Jays, as well as the Sarnia Sting. History The station was launched on July 26, 1946, by Sarnia Broadcasting. In 1947, Sarnia Broadcasting Co. was granted a licence to operate an FM station at 97.5 MHz (as CHOK-FM), which left the air sometime between 1948 and 1953 after being damaged from the Sarnia tornado. Sarnia
Sarnia is a city in Lambton County, Ontario, Canada. It had a 2021 population of 72,047, and is the largest city on Lake Huron. Sarnia is located on the eastern bank of the junction between the Upper and Lower Great Lakes where Lake Huron flows into the St. Clair River in the Southwestern Ontario region, which forms the Canada–United States border, directly across from Port Huron, Michigan.
