Ottawa is a city in LaSalle County, Illinois, United States, and its county seat. It is located at the confluence of the navigable Fox River (Illinois River tributary), Fox River and Illinois River, the latter being a conduit for river barges and connects Lake Michigan at Chicago to the Mississippi River. The population estimate was 18,668, as of 2022. It is the principal city of the Ottawa micropolitan statistical area. S.A.M.: Simply About Music (pronounced "Sam") was a 24-hour satellite-driven format produced by Westwood One, based on the adult hits format. Its playlist consisted of a wide variety of popular adult music from the 1960s through today, from artists ranging from Led Zeppelin to Lady Gaga to Linkin Park. The format's name, other than the acronym, derives from other "Male First Name FM" formats such as Jack FM, Bob FM and Hank FM. The company takes its name from an earlier network also named Westwood One, a company founded in 1976. The company was, at various times, managed by CBS Radio, the radio arm of CBS Corporation and Viacom. It was later purchased by the private equity firm The Gores Group before merging with Dial Global in 2011. In December 2013, Dial Global was, in turn, acquired by Cumulus Media. Prior to the sale's completion, Dial Global re-assumed the Westwood One name.
