WOW Series
"WOW" is a series of annual compilation albums featuring contemporary Christian music dating from 1995. Comprising songs submitted by each partner label, the annual ''WOW Hits'' releases are usually double CD sets. The series was officially cancelled in 2019. Throughout its run, the WOW franchise evolved into one of the most successful collections of Christian music. Background The birth of the WOW record project can be traced to Grant Cunningham, A&R Director at Sparrow Records. In November 1994, Cunningham made a business trip to EMI Limited in London, which at the time was the parent company of Sparrow Records. There, he noticed that several British record labels were issuing an annual CD of top-rated songs, known as the ''NOW'' series, containing collections of pop songs. WOW! was a Dutch girl group in the late and early 90's who were produced by the duo Bolland & Bolland. History WOW! scored their first hit in 1997 called ''Keer op Keer'', which came from their album ''Wild + Ondeugend''. The group scored another hit with ''Zomer'. The music video for ''The Night Before You Came'' was recorded in the Big Brother house. The band consisted of Denise Koopal, Jenske Moermond, Joëlle van Noppen, Mandy Gruijters and Naomi Louwerens. After each other, Van Noppen and Koopal left the group in 1999 and 2000 respectively. The band restarted in May 2001 under the new name Blaze. However, this was unsuccessful. Worlds of Wonder (WoW) was an American toy company founded in 1985 by former Atari sales president Don Kingsborough, and former Atari employee Mark Robert Goldberg. Its founding was inspired by a prototype that became its launch product, Teddy Ruxpin. In 1986, it launched Lazer Tag and filed an IPO which '' Fortune'' magazine called "one of the year's most sought after stock sales".
