WOSM-Africa Region
The Africa Scout Region is the divisional office of the World Scout Bureau of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, with satellite offices in Cape Town, South Africa, and Dakar, Senegal. The Africa Region services Scouting in Sub-Saharan Africa and neighboring islands that are recognized members of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). Currently, the region has 39 member National Scout Associations/Organizations and 11 potential members. There are about one million registered Scouts in Africa, though it is suspected that there are about twice that number in the region. The large nations of Guinea-Bissau and the Central African Republic, and several smaller nations, are not yet WOSM members, for various reasons. The Scout Association
The Scout Association is the largest organisation in the Scout Movement in the Scouting in the United Kingdom, United Kingdom. Following the rapid development of the Scouting, Scout Movement from 1907, The Scout Association was formed in 1910 and Incorporation (association), incorporated in 1912 by a royal charter under its previous name of The Boy Scouts Association. Rover Moot
The World Scout Moot is an event for senior branches of Scouting (traditionally called Rovers) and other young adult Scouts, gathering up to 5,000 people. Moots provide an opportunity for young adults in Scouting to meet, with the objective of improving their international understanding as citizens of the world. Moots are held every four years and are organized by the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). Participants must be 18–25 years old at the time of the event. Scouts who are 26 or older can take part as International Service Team (IST) volunteer staff. The Africa Scout Region of the World Organization of the Scout Movement has run or sponsored region-wide Africa Scout Jamborees in its member countries. Liga Dos Escuteiros De Moçambique
The Liga dos Escuteiros de Moçambique (LEMO), the national Scouting organization of Mozambique, was founded in 1994, and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1999. The coeducational Liga dos Escuteiros de Moçambique has 31,108 members as of 2017, with most members located in the major cities. The National Chief Scout Leonardo Adamowicz is from Poland, hence the Liga dos Escuteiros de Moçambique uniform is similar to the Polish Scouting Association, Polish uniform, adopted to climate differences. The similarities between the Mozambican Scout emblem and the Polish Scout ''lilijka'' may readily be noted, as well. The "D H P" in the emblem stands for ''Deus Honra Pátria'', God Honor Country. The Uganda Scouts Association
The Uganda Scouts Association is the national Scouting organization of Uganda. The Association became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1964. It serves 3 million Scout members (as of 2022). History Scouting was founded in British protectorate of Uganda in 1915. Church missionary Rev. Canon H.M. Grace was sent to Ankole in western Uganda to start Mbarara High School. He also started the first troop in Uganda. The movement took time to spread over the country during World War I, as the public thought Scouting was too military. In 1918, the Rev. Grace was transferred to Namirembe, where he started a second troop of Scouts. During World War II, Scouts served their community by working in post offices sorting mail, directing traffic and other meaningful duties. Whitewater Rafting
Rafting and whitewater rafting are recreational outdoor activities which use an inflatable raft to navigate a river or other body of water. This is often done on whitewater or different degrees of rough water. Dealing with risk is often a part of the experience.
