The 2006 World Orienteering Championships, the 23rd World Orienteering Championships, were held in Aarhus Aarhus (, , ; officially spelled Ã…rhus from 1948 until 1 January 2011) is the second-largest city in Denmark and the seat of Aarhus Municipality. Aarhus (, , ; officially spelled Århus from 1948 until 1 January 2011) is the second-largest city in Denmark and the seat of Aarhus Municipality. Jamie Stevenson (orienteer)
Jamie Stevenson (born 25 March 1975) is a British orienteering champion. In 2003 he won the gold medal in the sprint distance at the World Orienteering Championships. He was the first and, to-date, the only British male orienteering world champion (Yvette Baker won the short distance race at the 1999 world championships). Stevenson won a second individual world championship medal in Denmark in 2006, with a third place in the middle distance category. He also holds two world relay medals running the anchor leg for Great Britain: Bronze in 2003 and Gold in 2008.
