WOCE (FM)
WOCE FM 101.9 ("Radio Que Buena", literally "Radio How Good") is a radio station serving the Chattanooga metropolitan area radio market, and having the suburb of Ringgold, Georgia as its city of license. It serves Chattanooga and most of Cleveland, Tennessee as well as Dalton, Georgia, in southeast Tennessee and northwest Georgia. The station transmits from just south of the state line on the large ridge known as White Oak Mountain, north-northeast of Ringgold and south-southeast of East Brainerd. History WSGC-FM was an oldies station known as "Majic" that signed on March 1, 1989, by longtime Chattanooga TN radio disc jockey Tommy Jett. It was Chattanooga's first FM oldies station. Ringgold, Georgia
Ringgold is a city in and the county seat of Catoosa County, Georgia, United States. Its population was 3,414 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area. History Ringgold was founded in 1846 and incorporated as a city in 1847. It was named after Samuel Ringgold, a hero of the Battle of Palo Alto in the Mexican–American War. Ringgold is where ''The General'' locomotive stopped during the Great Locomotive Chase on April 12, 1862. Ringgold is also home to the historic Ringgold Depot, which still contains bullet marks from the Civil War. The Battle of Ringgold Gap took place on November 27, 1863. Confederate Major General Patrick Cleburne with 4,100 men used the mountain pass known as the Ringgold Gap to stall the advance of Union Major General Joseph Hooker and his troops. WNOO (1260 AM) is an urban contemporary/gospel station serving the Chattanooga, Tennessee market, in the United States. FM translator In addition to the main station, WNOO is relayed by an FM translator in order to widen the broadcast area, especially at night when WNOO AM reduces power to 25 watts. The FM translator also gives the listener another option, namely FM with high-fidelity sound. White Oak Mountain
White Oak Mountain is a ridge located in northwestern Georgia and southeastern Tennessee. The ridge is part of the Ridge and Valley Appalachians. Description White Oak Mountain is one of a series of paralleling ridges running approximately north-northeast in the Tennessee Valley between the Cumberland Plateau/Mountains to the west and the Blue Ridge Mountains to the east. The ridge averages 1,368 feet above sea level, the highest point being 1,495 feet. The ridge begins on the north side of Ringgold Gap, the site of an 1863 Civil War battle, in Catoosa County just east of Ringgold. Interstate 75, US 41/ 76, and a CSX Railroad run through this gap.
