WNXP (91.1 FM) is a public radio station in Nashville, Tennessee, airing an adult album alternative (AAA) radio format. The station is owned by Nashville Public Radio, the licensee of Nashville's main NPR member station, WPLN-FM, with studios for both outlets located on Mainstream Drive north of downtown Nashville. WPLN-FM (90.3 MHz), is a non-commercial public radio station in Nashville, Tennessee. It airs a news, talk and information radio format and is owned by Nashville Public Radio along with sister station WNXP. The station's studios and offices are located on Mainstream Drive north of downtown Nashville, which are considered among the finest radio production facilities in the U.S. WPLN-FM is simulcast on two low-powered repeaters on the fringes of the Middle Tennessee area: WHRS (91.7 FM) in Cookeville and WTML (91.5 FM) in Tullahoma. WPLN-FM has an effective radiated power of 80,000 watts. The transmitter is on Johnson Chapel Road West in Brentwood, Tennessee, near the Little Harpeth River. WRVU
WRVU is a student-run college radio station associated with, but not operated by, Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. It broadcasts via streaming radio, and from 1973 to 2014, it was also broadcast on licensed radio stations in Nashville. The station is operated as a division of Vanderbilt Student Communications (VSC), an independent non-profit affiliated with the university to oversee student media. History Early stations A clandestine station at Vanderbilt University was set up by student Ken Berryhill around 1951 under the name "the Voice of the Commodore", but was shut down soon after, when the university administration discovered the antenna wire draped around Cole Hall.
