WNDU-TV (channel 16) is a television station in South Bend, Indiana, United States, affiliated with NBC. Owned by Gray Media, it maintains studios on the campus of the University of Notre Dame, the station's founding owner, along State Road 933 on South Bend's north side; its transmitter is located southeast of the St. Joseph County Fairgrounds on the city's south side. The station's studios also house production facilities for the syndicated agricultural news programs '' AgDay'' and '' U.S. Farm Report'', the former of which is broadcast locally by WNDU-TV; WNDU-TV's weather department provides the forecasts seen on those shows. WSJV
WSJV (channel 28) is a television station licensed to Elkhart, Indiana, United States, serving the South Bend area as an affiliate of the digital multicast network Heroes & Icons. It is owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group alongside dual CBS/ Fox affiliate WSBT-TV (channel 22). The two stations share studios on East Douglas Avenue in Mishawaka and transmitter facilities on Ironwood Road in South Bend, near the St. Joseph County Fairgrounds. WSJV began broadcasting in 1954 as the NBC and ABC affiliate for the Elkhart–South Bend area, losing NBC to WNDU-TV (channel 16) when that station started in 1955. It broadcast on channel 52 before moving to channel 28 in 1958. After Fox acquired the rights to National Football League games in 1994, it began looking for new affiliates in markets where it had none, with South Bend the largest such market. Beyond Our Control
''Beyond Our Control'' was an American youth-produced television series that aired on local NBC affiliate WNDU-TV in South Bend, Indiana for 19 seasons from 1967 to 1986. Usually televised from late-January to mid-May of each year, the program was produced by WJA-TV, a company that was part of the local Junior Achievement program, designed to give high school students business and work experience. WNDU-TV, owned and operated by the University of Notre Dame, was the local sponsor. Approximately 30 Michiana (Indiana and Michigan) high school students were selected by audition each year as company members. In 19 seasons, over 350 teenagers participated. As described by Jim Grey on ''Down the Road'', "it was a TV show about TV, and there was not a thing about the medium it did not lampoon and skewer. ... ''AgDay'' is a syndicated daily half-hour television program presented in magazine format focusing on agriculture news, agribusiness, and country living. It generally aired in early morning timeslots on stations throughout the country and also aired weekday mornings on the digital cable and satellite channel RFD-TV. It is hosted and produced by Clinton Griffiths. Clinton Griffiths has been the news anchor of AgDay TV since 2010. WDND (1490 AM) was a radio station licensed to serve the South Bend, Indiana, United States, area. The WDND call letters were the last ones used before the station went silent. While silent, the station call sign was changed to WPNT, although these call letters were never used on-the-air before the station was deleted. History WHOT The station began broadcasting in 1944 and held the call sign WHOT. WHOT aired a full service format, with music, news, talk, comedy, drama, and variety programs, along with a Polish program mornings and religious programs on Sundays. Sketch Comedy
Sketch comedy comprises a series of short, amusing scenes or vignettes, called "sketches" or, "skits", commonly between one and ten minutes long, performed by a group of comic actors or comedians. While the form developed and became popular in music hall in Britain and vaudeville in North America, today it is used widely in variety shows, as well as in late night talk shows and even some sitcoms. While sketch comedy is now associated mostly with adult entertainment, certain children's television series such have used it, too.
