WGVL, UHF analog channel 23, was a television station in Greenville, South Carolina, United States that existed from 1953 to 1956. The station was the first to operate in Greenville, but like many early UHF stations, the arrival of new stations on the VHF band imperiled its ability to secure programming and viewers. WGVL signed off the day that WSPA-TV signed on channel 7, having fought for years alongside fellow UHF station WAIM-TV in Anderson to prevent the television station from being built; the case lingered into 1960, well after the station ceased broadcasting. WROQ (101.1 FM) is a classic rock radio station licensed to Anderson, South Carolina, and serving the Upstate South Carolina region, including Greenville and Spartanburg. The station has had a classic rock format since December 1, 1987. This makes it one of the oldest classic rock stations in the country as far as years with the same format. The Rock 101 moniker was first used on the station from 1978 to 1982 and returned in 1987. WAIM
WAIM (1230 AM) is a news/talk radio station located in Anderson, South Carolina. The station is licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to broadcast with a full-time power of 1,000 watts non-directional. History WAIM signed on the air in April 1935. Station owner Wilton E. Hall also owned ''The Anderson Independent'' and ''Daily Mail'' newspapers. The radio station was the fourth station to sign on the air in South Carolina. In the 1940s and 1950s Glenn Warnock was the general manager. Some of the radio personalities that worked at WAIM in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s were Doc Durham, Jimmy Scribner, Bob Poole, Marshall Gailiard, Al Joseph, Betty Black and Ken Rogers. Cunningham Broadcasting Corporation is an owner of broadcast television stations in the United States. The company owns fifteen stations–eight affiliated with Fox, three affiliated with The CW, two affiliated with ABC, and two affiliated with MyNetworkTV. Cunningham has very close ties to the Sinclair Broadcast Group. All but two of the Cunningham stations are operated by Sinclair under local marketing agreements (the exceptions are WTAT-TV, which Cunningham operates directly with no involvement from Sinclair outside of a news-share agreement with a Sinclair-owned station in its market, and WYZZ-TV, which is operated by Nexstar Media Group). Dabl () is an American digital multicast television network owned by the CBS Media Ventures subsidiary of Paramount Global and operated by Weigel Broadcasting. Dabl launched in September 2019 with a female-targeted lifestyle format. The ''Anderson Independent-Mail'', marketed as ''Independent Mail'' and sometimes referred to as ''Anderson Independent Mail'', is a newspaper for Anderson County in the state of South Carolina. It is owned by Gannett Satellite Information Network, LLC. It is the closest daily newspaper to Clemson University, the newspaper's sports department heavily covers the sports of the Clemson Tigers. History G. Pierce Browne founded the precursor afternoon newspaper the ''Anderson Daily Mail'' in 1899. Wilton E.
