WMOW (channel 4) is a television station licensed to Crandon, Wisconsin, United States, affiliated with ABC. Quincy Media, Inc., formerly known as Quincy Newspapers, Inc., was a family-owned media company that originated in the newspapers of Quincy, Illinois. WKOW (channel 27) is a television station in Madison, Wisconsin, United States, affiliated with ABC and owned by Allen Media Broadcasting. The station's studios are located on Tokay Boulevard on Madison's west side, and its transmitter is located in the Middleton Junction section of the town of Middleton. History WKOW-TV (the suffix was dropped from the call sign in 2009) was launched on June 30, 1953, as Madison's first television station. Usually unlike dead air (broadcasting only silence), a station that is dark or silent does not even transmit a carrier signal.
