WLXT (96.3 FM, "Lite 96.3") is an adult contemporary radio station licensed to Petoskey, Michigan, at an ERP of 100,000 watts, covering most of northern Michigan. It is owned by Trish MacDonald-Garber, whose family has owned the station for over 30 years. WMBN-FM The station signed on in 1967 at 96.7, only broadcasting with 3,000 watts and airing beautiful music. The station was originally WMBN-FM, owned by Les Biederman's Midwestern Broadcasting Company of Traverse City, Michigan, and mostly simulcasted WMBN-AM 1340. In the 1970s, Biederman wanted to boost the signals of his Traverse City stations, ordering him to divest most of his other properties due to Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules and regulations. WKHQ-FM (105.9 MHz) is a 100,000-watt radio station licensed to Charlevoix, Michigan, with studios located on U.S. 131 South Petoskey, Michigan and US 31 Acme, Michigan. The Top 40 (CHR) station is known to listeners as '' Hits 106 KHQ, Northern Michigan's #1 Hit Music Channel''. WVOY The station signed on in 1980, but its roots can be traced back to the early 1970s, with the beginning of WVOY, a 5,000-watt daytime-only station at 1270 kHz on the AM dial. WVOY was one of the first all-contemporary-hit-music radio stations in northern Michigan and featured Bill Vogel ("The Captain," formerly of Detroit's WDRQ), John Yaroch, Rick Durkin, and other major-market-quality talent. WLXV (96.7 FM) is a radio station licensed to Cadillac, Michigan. The station, which began broadcasting on July 7, 1974, has previously programmed easy listening and adult contemporary music as WITW, beautiful music as WEVZ, and CHR as WWLZ ("Lakes FM"). WWLZ was changed in 1994 to a simulcast of WLXT 96.3 FM in Petoskey, which continued until MacDonald-Garber Broadcasting, believing the Cadillac area needed its own music station (as opposed to simulcasts of stations from Traverse City or elsewhere), began the "Mix" format. WMBN (1340 AM) is a radio station in Petoskey, Michigan, United States. The station, owned by MacDonald-Garber Broadcasting, airs Fox Sports Radio format of sports. WMBN went on the air in April 1947 and is the oldest continuously operating radio station still on the air in Petoskey, though its claim of being "Petoskey's first radio station" is technically incorrect since it was preceded on the air by the short-lived WBBP in the 1920s. The station was founded by Les Biederman and, along with WTCM and WTCM-FM in Traverse City, WATZ in Alpena, and the now-defunct WATC in Gaylord, was affiliated with his "Paul Bunyan Network." Larry King (born Lawrence Harvey Zeiger; November 19, 1933 – January 23, 2021) was an American television and radio host, whose awards included 2 Peabodys, an Emmy and 10 Cable ACE Awards.
