WLKZ (104.9 FM) is an American licensed radio station in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, serving the Lakes Region. The station is owned by Dirk Nadon, through licensee Lakes Media, LLC, and carries a classic rock format, under the "104.9 The Hawk" branding. History The original construction permit for the station was granted on July 1, 1983, and the WLKZ call letters were assigned on October 11; it took to the air on February 1, 1985, and a license to cover was granted on June 4, 1985. During the 1980s, WLKZ offered an adult contemporary format; by 1996, it was offering an oldies format. Initially, the station aired the format on its own; however, in 2000, original owner Jay Williams sold the station to Tele-Media, owner of similarly-formatted WNNH in the nearby Concord market. Tele-Media sold WLKZ, WNNH, and Nashua-based WHOB to Nassau Broadcasting Partners in 2004. WASR (1420 AM) and WCGY-FM (97.3 FM) are commercial radio stations broadcasting a country music format. WASR is licensed to Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, and serves the Lakes Region. WCGY-FM is licensed to Jefferson, New Hampshire, and serves the North Country and White Mountains Region. The stations are owned by Dirk Nadon's Lakes Media, LLC. Frank FM
Frank FM is the branding used by Binnie Media for its radio stations airing a classic hits radio format. The Frank FM format was similar to the Jack FM format in that these stations play around 1000 songs in regular rotation at any time as opposed to the average number of 300 to 600 songs heard regularly on most commercial radio stations. In 2023, the station’s programming was changed to a way broader format, which plays songs from every genre and decade. The new playlist includes Rap, hip-hop, R&B, country, and also songs from its older format. Nassau Broadcasting Partners LP was a company based in Princeton, New Jersey that owned radio stations in New England and the Mid-Atlantic United States. Nassau's stations, which included both AM and FM frequencies, were located in Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The company was owned and headed by Louis F. Mercatanti. Nassau was predominantly an operator of radio stations in medium and small markets.
