WKCQ
WKCQ (98.1 FM) is a radio station licensed to Saginaw, Michigan, and broadcasting on 98.1 mHz with an effective radiated power of 50,000 watts. The station has broadcast a popular country music format since 1968 (the country format began under the station's original calls of WSAM-FM). Every year since 1992, the station hosts a free concert on Ojibway Island in downtown Saginaw. Under the right conditions it can be heard all the way in Port Sanilac. For a period of time, WKCQ's listenership in the Flint area declined when WFBE, with which it competes with in Genesee County, Michigan, switched to country, however listenership has rebounded in the Flint area due to the stability of its on-air talent, with Jim Kramer, Kevin Profitt, Greg Cole and Brian Bailey, among others, having been with the station for a decade or more. MacDonald Broadcasting is a privately held radio broadcasting company in Michigan owned by Kenneth MacDonald, Jr. The family-owned broadcasting group is headquartered in Saginaw and owns eight radio stations across Mid-Michigan, including stations in the Tri-Cities and Lansing markets. Under the name MacDonald Audio Communications, Kenneth MacDonald also owns a MUZAK service delivering commercial-free music to retail stores across the region. WMJO
WMJO (97.3 FM, "Joe FM") is a radio station licensed to Essexville, Michigan and broadcasting at 97.3 MHz with an effective radiated power of 3,000 watts. Known on the air as ''Joe-FM'', WMJO has a variety hits format targeted to Saginaw, Bay City, and Midland. The station is one of four locally owned MacDonald Broadcasting radio stations. It first began broadcasting in 1991 under the WIXC call sign (now used by a sports radio station in Titusville, Florida). The station switched from country when it was purchased by MacDonald in 1998. Since MacDonald owned then competitor WKCQ, the station's format was flipped to classic rock and was known as ''Eagle 97.3'' with the call sign WEEG. In 2004, the station became ''Joe-FM'', a variety hits format modeled after Jack FM, and changed its call signs once again to WMJO. WSAM
WSAM (1400 AM) is a radio station licensed to Saginaw, Michigan and broadcasting at 1400 kHz with 1,000 watts of power. The station is simulcasted with FM sister station WSAG-FM at 104.1 MHz and are collectively known as The Bay, in reference to their close proximity to the Saginaw Bay. History WSAM was one of the first broadcasters in the Tri-Cities, predated only by WBCM in Bay City (which signed on in 1925). The original licensee was the Saginaw Broadcasting Company, owned by Milton Greenebaum. A construction permit for WSAM was issued by the Federal Communications Commission in March 1940. The original frequency of WSAM was 1200kHz with 100 watts of power. Port Sanilac
Port Sanilac is a village in Sanilac Township, Michigan, Sanilac Township, Sanilac County, Michigan, Sanilac County in the U.S. state of Michigan. WITL-FM (100.7 MHz) is a radio station broadcasting a country music format. Licensed to Lansing, Michigan, and serving Ingham, Eaton and Clinton Counties in Michigan. It first began broadcasting in 1961 (as WMRT-FM) alongside daytime only station WMRT(AM). The stations were purchased by Mid-West Family for $187,000 in 1964 and took the WITL and WITL-FM call sign in 1966, and adopted a full-time country music format in 1967. WCEN-FM (94.5 MHz, "The Moose") is a radio station broadcasting a country music format. WCEN has been licensed in Hemlock, Michigan since 2001. It first began broadcasting in 1959 and was originally licensed in Mount Pleasant, Michigan (though the tower location and signal pattern have not changed since the city of license change, and the station still has a local-grade signal in Mount Pleasant).
