WJWL
WJWL (900 AM) is a radio station licensed to serve Georgetown, Delaware. The station airs a Regional Mexican format known as "La Raza". The studios and AM transmitter are located on U.S. Route 113 northwest of Georgetown. The station is repeated by two FM translators, covering Georgetown and Laurel. History Early years On December 13, 1950, Rollins Broadcasting received a construction permit from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for a new daytime-only radio station on 900 kHz in Georgetown. The station signed on June 23, 1951, the first in Sussex County and an independent outlet. Soon after the station launched, in October 1952, John W. Rollins, co-owner of Rollins Broadcasting with his brother O. Wayne and Lieutenant Governor of Delaware from 1953 to 1957, announced plans to file for a television station on channel 40, which would have been the first on the Lower Peninsula. WKHI (94.5 FM, "94.5 KHI") is a commercial radio station that is licensed to Newark, Maryland, United States and serves the Delmarva Peninsula. The station is owned by The Voice Radio Network and broadcasts a classic hits format. History The station was granted an initial construction permit for 94.9 FM in November 2015. Originally called WMDS, it switched its call sign to WAMS in May 2016. On April 1, 2017, the station signed on the air with a triple-A format as "94.9 WAMS", programmed under an LMA between Miriam Media and Robin Rothschild. In October 2017, Seaford Media, LLC (now Vinco Media, LLC) purchased WAMS from Miriam Media; the new owner flipped the station to adult hits as "94.9 Jack FM" on November 1, moving that format from WSUX-FM. On September 19, 2018, WAMS adopted the legacy WKHI call letters that were used previously at 99.9 FM (now WWFG) when it was a contemporary hit radio (CHR) station. Sussex County is located in the southern part of the U.S. state of Delaware, on the Delmarva Peninsula. As of the 2020 United States Census, 2020 census, the population was 237,378. The county seat is Georgetown, Delaware, Georgetown. WBBX (106.1 MHz) is an FM radio station broadcasting a classic hits format. Licensed to Pocomoke City, Maryland, United States, the station is owned by Vinco Media LLC (Vince Klepac). The station was assigned the WBBX call letters by the Federal Communications Commission on February 6, 2020. History The original call sign of the station was WMYJ in 1992. During two months of 1994, the call letters were changed to WWVV in 1994. While the station was licensed to Great Scott Broadcasting, it was operated under a local marketing agreement ( LMA) by Bay Broadcasting. Prior to 2005, the station was a simulcast of WBEY, a country music station.
