WITI (channel 6) is a television station in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. Storer Communications, known from 1927 to 1952 as the Fort Industry Company and from 1952 to 1983 as Storer Broadcasting, was an American media company that owned television and radio stations and cable television systems. Founded by George Butler Storer and John Harold Ryan as the Fort Industry Oil Company in Toledo, Ohio, the company's focus quickly shifted to radio ownership, particularly in Ohio, Michigan and West Virginia. Fort Industry added television stations to their portfolio, adopted the Storer name in 1952, and eventually owned multiple key affiliates of the CBS television network. Storer also acquired a reputation for selling smaller stations in order to purchase larger ones, particularly after the company reached then-existent ownership limits. ''Man Without a Gun'' is an American Western television series produced by 20th Century Fox Television and presented on the NTA Film Network and in first-run syndication in the United States from 1957 to 1959. Set in the town of Yellowstone near Yellowstone National Park in the then Dakota Territory during the 1870s, the program starred Rex Reason as newspaper editor Adam MacLean, who brought miscreants to justice without the use of violence or gunplay but through his ''Yellowstone Sentinel''. The co-star was Mort Mills, as Marshal Frank Tallman, who intervened when the "pen" proved not to be "mightier than the sword". Harry Harvey Sr., was cast in twenty-one episodes as Yellowstone Mayor George Dixon. The NTA Film Network was an early American television network founded by Ely Landau in 1956 that operated on a part-time basis, broadcasting films and several first-run television programs from major Hollywood studios. Despite attracting more than 100 affiliate stations and securing the financial support of Twentieth Century-Fox (which purchased a 50% share of NTA in November 1956), the network proved unprofitable and was discontinued by 1961. KWQC-TV (channel 6) is a television station licensed to Davenport, Iowa, United States, serving the Quad Cities area as an affiliate of NBC. Owned by Gray Media, the station maintains studios on Brady Street in downtown Davenport, and its transmitter is located in Bettendorf, Iowa. History KWQC first signed on the air on October 31, 1949, as WOC-TV. The station was founded by B. J. Palmer, founder of the Palmer College of Chiropractic (located directly across the street from the station's studios) along with WOC radio (WOC (AM), 1420 AM and 103.7 FM, now WLLR-FM). The WOC stations were also sister stations to WHO (AM), WHO-AM/KDRB, FM/WHO-TV, TV in Des Moines.
