WILS (1320 AM) is a commercial news/talk radio station in Lansing, Michigan. WHZZ (101.7 FM, "Mike FM") is a radio station licensed to Lansing, Michigan with a variety hits format. History The station has gone through many different formats over the years. After beginning as a simulcast of WILS 1320 AM as WILS-FM in 1967, the station separated programming in the late 1960s with an automated MOR format (with the exception of the Jerry Marshall morning show, which was simulcast with WILS-AM from 6 to 10 a.m.). In 1972, WILS-FM launched an automated Country format which was branded as "Hit Country", although the morning simulcast continued. In 1975, WILS-FM abandoned the Country format in favor of a 12-hour daily simulcast with WILS-AM, followed by split programming in the evening, which included an AOR format from 6 p.m. to midnight, and a Jazz format from midnight to 6 a.m.. WXLA (1180 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Dimondale, a suburb of Lansing, Michigan. It is owned by MacDonald Broadcasting and airs a soft adult contemporary radio format. It uses the branding "Easy 93.3". The dial position refers to WXLA's FM translator, W227DO at 93.3 MHz in Lansing. The station is a daytimer but the FM translator broadcasts around the clock. WQHH (96.5 FM), branded "Power 96.5" is a commercial FM radio station located in DeWitt, a suburb of Lansing, Michigan. The station broadcasts with 6,000 watts. The station plays hip hop as well as rhythm & blues (R&B) music. WQHH began broadcasting on May 26, 1991 with 3,000 watts. Power was increased to the present 6,000 watts in July, 2003. In 2006, MacDonald Broadcasting purchased WQHH and sister station WXLA for $3.65 million. The studios were moved from DeWitt to Lansing at that time. Dimondale, Michigan
Dimondale is a village in Eaton County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,234 at the 2010 census. The village is located within Windsor Charter Township. Dimondale is a suburb of Lansing, which is northeast of the village in Ingham County. History The Potawatomi originally had a permanent camp along the Grand River in the Dimondale area before white settlement began in the 1830s. Relations between white settlers (most of whom were from New York and New England) and the Potowatomie were generally cordial with local residents permanently deeding of land near the river to the local Indians. James Everett Bohannon (January 7, 1944 – November 12, 2022) was an American broadcaster who worked in both television and radio. He is best known for hosting the nationally syndicated late night radio talk show ''The Jim Bohannon Show'' originally broadcast on the Mutual Broadcasting System and later the Westwood One Network from 1985 to 2022. For 31 years, he also hosted '' America in The Morning'', a nationally syndicated radio news show, stepping down in December 2015.
