WHTC
WHTC (1450 AM) is a news/talk radio station in Holland, Michigan. History The station signed on July 31, 1948, at 6:00 p.m. and originally was owned by six Holland-area businessmen: I.H Marsilje, Nelson Bosman (who served as mayor of Holland from 1961 to 1971), W.A. Butler (former owner of the Holland Evening Sentinel), Millard Westrate, Willard Wichers and P.T. Chef. All are since deceased. Michael Walton of Milwaukee, Wisconsin purchased the station (along with the old WHTC-FM) from the original owners in 1981. On September 20, 2000, Walton sold his four-station operation (including WHBL, WWJR and WBFM Sheboygan, Wisconsin) to Midwest Communications, Inc. WHTC-FM (96.1), which signed on in 1961 and later went by the call letters WYXX and WKEZ, was sold to Federated Communications in 1994. WYVN
WYVN (92.7 FM, "The Van") is a radio station broadcasting a classic hits format licensed to Saugatuck, Michigan, with studios in Holland, Michigan and is owned along with WHTC by Midwest Communications. The station began operations on July 4, 1987 as WEVS. WEVS' music format consisted of a hybrid of rock and pop oldies dating back to the 1950s and current adult contemporary chart hits. During this time, the station was known as "The Lakeshore's Music Station," playing "Your Favorites of Five Decades." In January 2001 Midwest Communications, Inc. began operating WEVS under a local marketing agreement. WMAX-FM (96.1 MHz) is the callsign of a radio station owned by iHeartMedia located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The studios and offices are located at 77 Monroe Center in Downtown Grand Rapids while its transmitter is located near Felch St and 32nd Ave south of the town of Hudsonville outside of Grand Rapids. The station is identified as "96.1 The Game" and carries both locally produced play by play sportscasts and sports talk programs, as well as programming from the Fox Sports Radio network. It owns 82 radio stations located primarily within the Midwest United States, in Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Tennessee, Illinois and Wisconsin. The show traces its history through several predecessors, beginning with Bill Mack's overnight truck show in 1969.
