WFNF (FM)
WFNF is an FM radio station licensed to the city of Brazil, Indiana. The station operates on the FM radio frequency of 92.7 MHz, FM channel 224. The studios were located at 1301 Ohio Street in Terre Haute, Indiana, but were moved to 925 Wabash Avenue Suite 300. The building at 13th and Ohio was completely torn down in July 2013. History Brazil, Indiana's first radio station went on the air in 1958 as WITE, with a 3-tower directional antenna. In 1972, the AM station reverted to a daytime-only station with one tower, and the call letters, WWCM. This coincided with the construction of FM station WWCM at 97.7 that same year. The FM station originally operated with 3,000 watts at 97.7 MHz when it signed on in 1972 as WWCM-FM, playing country music. The format changed to album rock in 1979 as WBDJ. Brazil is a city in Clay County, Indiana, United States. The population was 8,176 at the 2022 census. The city is the county seat of Clay County. It is part of the Terre Haute Metropolitan Statistical Area. There is a fountain from the country of Brazil; Brazil often flies the Brazilian, Indiana flag, and U.S. flag alongside one another at the fountain. History In the 1840s, the owners of the farmland that would later become the city of Brazil decided to name their farm after the country of Brazil. The city was founded in 1866. WVIG (105.5 MHz, "The Legend") is a FM radio station broadcasting a classic country music format. Licensed to West Terre Haute, Indiana, United States, the station serves the Terre Haute area. The station is owned by Joey and Kelsey O’Rourke, through licensee JKO Media Group. WVIG is not licensed to broadcast in the digital hybrid HD format. History On January 30, 2017, David Crooks' DLC Media took over ownership of WZJK as the previous call sign, WWVR, moved to Midwest Communications' 98.5 signal as "98.5 The River WWVR", replacing WBOW. Dave Crooks (born December 13, 1963) is a radio station owner and former member of the Indiana House of Representatives, where he represented the 63rd District from 1996 to 2008. Early life, education, and business career Crooks was born and raised in Sullivan County, Indiana. He grew up in a working-class household, where his brother was a mine worker, his mother and sister were steel workers, and his father was a machinist. Crooks entered the work force at the age of nine at a gas station down the street from his family's home. He began working at his first radio station at 17 and eventually came to own stations in both Daviess and Knox counties. ''Elvis Duran and the Morning Show'' (formerly known as ''The Z Morning Zoo'') is an American syndicated weekday morning radio program hosted by Elvis Duran. The show originates from the studios of Newark-licensed WHTZ in New York City, a Top 40 outlet branded as "Z100". The show is also syndicated through Premiere Radio Networks in over 80 markets such as Philadelphia, Miami, Cleveland, and Richmond, Virginia. The live show had previously been available in Canada via Toronto's now-defunct Proud FM. The live airing of the show is weekdays from 6 to 10 a.m. Eastern time, with most Central markets airing it live from 5 to 9 am, and other stations further west taking the show on delay.
