WFNB (1130 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a sports radio format. Licensed to Brazil, Indiana, United States, the station serves the Terre Haute area. It first began broadcasting in 1960 under the call sign WITE. The station is owned by Joey and Kelsey O’Rourke, through licensee JKO Media Group. History The station was first licensed as WITE on May 17, 1960. It changed its call sign to WBZI on September 5, 1962; to WWCM on November 9, 1964; and to WNSA on July 13, 1981. Brazil is a city in Clay County, Indiana, United States. The population was 8,176 at the 2022 census. The city is the county seat of Clay County. It is part of the Terre Haute Metropolitan Statistical Area. There is a fountain from the country of Brazil; Brazil often flies the Brazilian, Indiana flag, and U.S. flag alongside one another at the fountain. History In the 1840s, the owners of the farmland that would later become the city of Brazil decided to name their farm after the country of Brazil. The city was founded in 1866. Dave Crooks (born December 13, 1963) is a radio station owner and former member of the Indiana House of Representatives, where he represented the 63rd District from 1996 to 2008. Early life, education, and business career Crooks was born and raised in Sullivan County, Indiana. He grew up in a working-class household, where his brother was a mine worker, his mother and sister were steel workers, and his father was a machinist. Crooks entered the work force at the age of nine at a gas station down the street from his family's home. He began working at his first radio station at 17 and eventually came to own stations in both Daviess and Knox counties. Adult standards (also sometimes known as the nostalgia or Big Band format) is a North American radio format heard primarily on AM or class A FM stations. Adult standards started in the 1950s and is aimed at "mature" adults, meaning mainly those people over 50 years of age, but it is mostly targeted for senior citizens. It is primarily on AM because market research reveals that only persons in that age group listen to music on AM in sizable numbers.
