WCRJ (88.1 FM, "The JOY FM") is a Christian radio station in Jacksonville, Florida. Owned by Radio Training Network, it broadcasts a Christian AC format as part of its The JOY FM network, which broadcasts in multiple different cities throughout the southeast United States. History Prior to 1993, WCRJ was WNCM-FM. The station switched from country music to talk radio in 1995. 88.1 was originally owned by The River Educational Media; until 2011, it was home to ''The Promise'', which was first launched by Concord Media Group on 106.5 FM and was later purchased by Salem Communications. Salem then sold the signal to Cox Radio in 2006 (in which they flipped that station to a simulcast of WOKV-FM, now WHJX), and The River agreed to take the Promise name and format, under a lease management agreement with The Promise Educational Media Inc. WJIS (88.1 FM), known on air as The JOY FM, is a Christian adult contemporary station serving North, Central and Southwest Florida, including the Sarasota metropolitan area and Tampa Bay areas, and is owned by the Radio Training Network. The JOY FM is not only local to Bradenton, but it has many stations and translators across Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. Air1 is an American Christian radio network owned by the Educational Media Foundation (EMF), a non-profit Christian ministry. It primarily broadcasts contemporary worship music, and is a sister to the EMF's K-Love network. History On July 15, 1986, KLRD began broadcasting Christian hit/rock music from Yucaipa, California, and went by the on-air moniker K-LORD. In 1994, KXRD was started as a sister station to KLRD.
