WCMU-FM (89.5 FM) is a public radio station in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. The station, owned by Central Michigan University, is a National Public Radio member station, airing a news/talk format along with a variety of other programming. It is the flagship station of a network called WCMU Public Radio made up of six other affiliate stations in Northern Michigan. Programming WCMU Public Radio broadcasts news and talk programming during the week, including Morning Edition, All Things Considered, 1A, Fresh Air, Here and Now, and On Point. WUCX-FM
WUCX-FM, 90.1 FM in Bay City, Michigan, is a public radio station licensed to Central Michigan University and operated jointly with Delta College. It airs programming (both local and syndicated) separate from WCMU-FM between 5 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays, from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturdays, and from 6 a.m. until 12 p.m on Sundays. The station simulcasts WCMU for the remainder of the time. WUCX, which went on the air in September 1989, identified as "Q90.1" (with the "Q" standing for "Quality", after its television counterpart, WDCQ) until 2020 during non-simulcast day parts. Mount Pleasant is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. The city is the county seat of Isabella County, which is part of Central Michigan. The population of Mount Pleasant was 21,688 as of the 2020 census. The city is surrounded by Union Charter Township, but is politically independent. Alpena ( ') is the only city and the county seat of Alpena County, Michigan, United States. The population was 10,197 at the 2020 census, making it the third most populated city in the Northern Michigan region, after Traverse City and Cadillac. The station's studios are located on the CMU campus in Mount Pleasant, and its transmitter is located west of Barryton, Michigan.
