WAPDA Sports Club
WAPDA Sports Club ( bn, ওয়াপদা স্পোর্টস ক্লাব) is a multi-sports club based mainly in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The club is owned by the Bangladesh Power Development Board. The club was well known for its football team which participated in domestic football prior to the turn of the century. The Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) is a government agency operating under the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. It was created as a public-sector organization to boost the country's power sector after the emergence of Bangladesh as an independent state in 1972. Sharifuzzaman ( bn, শরিফুজ্জামান) is a retired a Bangladeshi football player who played as a midfielder. He is a member of the first Bangladesh national football team. Personal life Born in Munshiganj Sardar, East Bengal, Sharifuzzaman family had originally moved from Chandpur due to his father's job as a lawyer. Sharif is the second oldest among seven brothers and two sisters. Dhaka Second Division Football League
Dhaka Second Division Football League is the fourth-tier football league in Bangladesh, and the second highest league division in Dhaka. The league was founded in 1948 as the second-tier of the Dhaka League, while Bangladesh were still under the control of Pakistan. Until 1992, it was the second-tier of Bangladeshi football, before being replaced by the now defunct Dhaka First Division Football League, in 1993. In 2012, the league was further demoted into becoming the country's fourth-tier. The two top-finishing teams in the Super League round are automatically promoted to the Dhaka Senior Division League (Dhaka League). Sunil Krishna Dey Chowdhury ( bn, সুনীল কৃষ্ণ দে চৌধুরী; born 31 May 1948) is a former Bangladeshi footballer who played as a striker. He was a member of the first Bangladesh national team in 1973. Club career Sunil began his football career in the Chittagong First Division League in 1965, playing for Towns Club, Customs, and Port Trust in Chittagong. The Bangladesh national football team ( bn, বাংলাদেশ জাতীয় ফুটবল দল) is the national recognised football team of Bangladesh and is controlled by the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF). AKM Nowsheruzzaman ( bn, একেএম নওশেরুজ্জামান; 5 December 1950 – 21 September 2020), better known as Nowsher, was a Bangladeshi footballer who played as a striker or left-winger. In 1971, he toured India with the Shadhin Bangla football team in order to raise international awareness about the Bangladesh Liberation War. After liberation, he was also part of the first ever Bangladesh national football team.
