WAIV (FM)
WAIV (94.1 MHz) is a FM radio stations broadcasting in the Middle Tennessee area. WAIV is licensed to Smyrna, Tennessee, with the station serving the Nashville metropolitan area. The station is owned by Educational Media Foundation and is the flagship stations of the Air1 brand based in nearby Franklin, Tennessee. History WFFH was previously WRLG, then a sister station to WRLT, owned by Tuned In Broadcasting and airing a modern rock format. In early 1995, the station's format changed from "The Exxit" (a satellite format from the Major Networks) to The Underground Network (once called WDRE). Several months later, the station changed its format to active rock, branded as "Thunder 94". In October 1997, facing intense pressure from WKDF (which had flipped to modern rock some time before), Tuned In Broadcasting pulled the plug on "Thunder 94", and the format changed to AAA format and became "The Phoenix", playing a mix of rock and rap music. Smyrna is a town in Rutherford County, Tennessee, United States. Smyrna's population was 53,070 at the 2020 census, making it the largest town in Tennessee by population in that census. Smyrna is part of the Nashville metropolitan area. History The town of Smyrna has its European American roots in the early 19th century and began as an agrarian community. It was important during the Civil War because its railroad station lies between Nashville and Chattanooga. One of the major events of the war for the town involved the Confederate States soldier Sam Davis, who, after being charged with spying, gave up his life instead of giving any information to the Union Army. He was captured November 20, 1863, and was hanged by Union forces on November 27 of that year. The Star-Spangled Banner
"The Star-Spangled Banner" is the national anthem of the United States. The lyrics come from the "Defence of Fort M'Henry", a poem written by American lawyer Francis Scott Key on September 14, 1814, after he witnessed the bombardment of Fort McHenry by the British Royal Navy during the Battle of Baltimore in the War of 1812. Key was inspired by the large Flag of the United States, U.S. flag, with 15 stars and 15 stripes, known as the Star-Spangled Banner (flag), Star-Spangled Banner, flying triumphantly above the fort after the battle. The station is currently owned by Family Radio. The station broadcasts a Reformed Christian Calvinist teaching and hymns format featuring teaching by John MacArthur, R.C. Family Radio
Family Radio is a non-profit Christian radio network based in Franklin, Tennessee, United States. Established in 1959, Family Radio airs Calvinist teaching and Christian music. The network is most widely known for its false Family Radio#Failed 2011 end times prediction, 2011 end times predictions. At one time the 19th largest broadcaster in the United States, with 216 radio stations, the number of stations in the network has dropped drastically following their failed end times predictions. Programming One of Family Radio's oldest broadcasts was a telephone-talk program called ''Open Forum'' in which Harold Camping, the network's co-founder, president and general manager, responded to callers' questions and comments, as they relate to the Bible, and used the platform to promote his various end-time predictions.
