The company provides market access, education and information through global, national and regional face-to-face events, digital products and publications. History Diversified was founded as Hildreth Broadcasting in 1949 when Horace Hildreth, the former governor of Maine, president of Bucknell University, and future U.S. ambassador to Pakistan, purchased Community Broadcasting Service, owner of Maine's oldest radio station, WABI in Bangor. In 1953, he launched Maine's first TV station, WABI-TV in Bangor. In 1970, Hildreth Broadcasting entered the publishing and trade show business by merger with Journal Publications, the owner of National Fisherman and FISH EXPO Boston. WBFB
WBFB (97.1 FM, "97-1 The Bear") is a commercial radio station in Bangor, Maine. The station is owned by Blueberry Broadcasting and airs a country music radio format, simulcast on sister stations WBFE in Bar Harbor and WMCM in Rockland. The transmitter is off Maine State Route 9 in Dixmont, Maine, using the same tower as WABI-TV. The studios and offices are on Target Industrial Circle in Bangor. WBFB begins each weekday with the syndicated, Nashville-based ''Bobby Bones Show'' from Premiere Networks. Local disc jockeys handle the other hours of the day. On Sunday mornings, '' Bob Kingsley's Country Top 40'' is heard. Car races from the Motor Racing Network are heard on some weekends. WLBZ (channel 2) is a television station in Bangor, Maine, United States, affiliated with NBC and owned by Tegna Inc. The station's studios are located on Mount Hope Avenue in Bangor, and its transmitter is located on Rider Bluff in Holden. Although identifying as a separate station in its own right, WLBZ is considered a semi-satellite of sister station WCSH (channel 6) in Portland. WLBZ's master control, as well as some internal operations, are housed at WCSH's studios on Congress Square in Downtown Portland. WLBZ clears all network programming as provided through its parent, simulcasts most of WCSH's newscasts (with local weather inserts) and airs most of its syndicated programming (though in some cases at different times). WTOS (910 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Bangor, Maine, United States. The station is owned by Blueberry Broadcasting. WTOS broadcasts a mainstream rock format, simulcast with WTOS-FM (105.1 FM) in Skowhegan and WTUX (101.1 FM) in Gouldsboro. WTOS's studios and offices are on Target Industrial Circle in Bangor. The transmitter is off Wilson Street in Brewer. The station broadcasts at 5,000 watts during the day. To protect other radio stations on AM 910 at night, it reduces power to 210 watts. Bangor ( ) is a city in and the county seat of Penobscot County, Maine, United States. WKZX was a radio station broadcasting on 950 AM in Presque Isle, Maine, that operated from 1932 to 1991. It was the first radio station in Presque Isle, broadcasting under the call letters WAGM from its inception until 1981. History On January 9, 1931, the Aroostook Broadcasting Corporation filed for a construction permit to build a new radio station on 1420 kHz in Presque Isle, approved by the Federal Radio Commission on May 26 of that year. NTA Film Network
The NTA Film Network was an early American television network founded by Ely Landau in 1956 that operated on a part-time basis, broadcasting films and several first-run television programs from major Hollywood studios. Despite attracting more than 100 affiliate stations and securing the financial support of Twentieth Century-Fox (which purchased a 50% share of NTA in November 1956), the network proved unprofitable and was discontinued by 1961.
