WABB is an American radio station located in Belton, South Carolina, The station is licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to broadcast on 1390 AM with a transmitter power of 1,000 watts during the day and 17 watts at night under a non-directional pattern. The station airs a Christian radio, Christian format with Southern gospel music as an affiliate of The Life FM. History Prior to its acquisition by Big Fish Broadcasting in 2008, the station carried a religious radio format with the WLUA callsign. Starting in early 2008, it began simulcasting sister station WGFJ, WYOR, "Your 94" and its Variety Hits format. The station adopted the WABB call sign on November 9, 2012, after it was dropped from WABF (AM), WTKD in Mobile, Alabama. Belton is a city in eastern Anderson County, South Carolina. The population was 4,134 at the 2010 census. History In 1845 a group was created to connect the Piedmont (United States), Piedmont region of South Carolina by rail to the existing rail system which then ran from Columbia, South Carolina, Columbia to Charleston, South Carolina, Charleston. The expanded rail line ran through what was to become Belton, with a spur line which ran to the nearby town of Anderson, South Carolina, Anderson. Because of the population explosion that occurred by the time the railroad had been completed in 1853, the state incorporated the town in 1855, with the boundaries being located within a half mile radius from the new railroad depot. The ''Press-Register'' (known from 1997 to 2006 as the ''Mobile Register'') was a newspaper serving the southwest Alabama counties of Mobile and Baldwin. The newspaper is a descendant of one founded in 1813, making the ''Press-Register'' Alabama's oldest newspaper. It is owned by Advance Publications, which also owns the primary newspapers in Birmingham, Alabama and Huntsville, Alabama. The ''Press-Register'' had a daily publication schedule since the inception of its predecessors in the early 1800s until September 30, 2012, when it and its sister papers reduced printing editions to only Wednesday, Fridays and Sundays. WABF (1480 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Mobile, Alabama. It is owned by Donald Pugh, through licensee Eternity Record Company LLC, broadcasting an oldies and adult standards radio format. WABF's radio studios are on North Church Street in Fairhope. By day, WABF is powered at 5,000 watts non-directional. But at night, to avoid interference to other stations on 1480 AM, WABF reduces power to 4,400 watts and uses a directional antenna. The station is licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to broadcast on 105.1 FM with an ERP of 3,600 watts, serving the Greenwood, South Carolina area.
