W.P. Chen
Chen Wei-ping ( zh, 陳維屏), also known as W.P. Chen or Wei-ping Chen (July 30, 1876 – February 23, 1972), was a Chinese diplomat. Early life He studied at Peking Methodist University, Ohio Wesleyan University, the University of Michigan and the University of Boston. He returned to China in 1916 and became involved with the Christianity in China, Chinese Christian press and organisations. Career He served as Consul General of the Republic of China (1912–1949), Republic of China in Australia from 1931 to 1935, when China did not have an ambassador to Australia. He was succeeded by Pao Chun-jien. As consul, he sought to increase Chinese exports to Australia and to warn Australians about Japanese militarism, Japan's increasing militarism and aggression, including publishing books and pamphlets. George Ernest Morrison Lecture In Ethnology
The George Ernest Morrison Lecture in Ethnology is given annually at the Australian National University in honour of George Ernest Morrison. The Lectures, founded by the Chinese community in Australia "to honour for all time the great Australian who rendered valuable service to China" were also, in the words of Geremie Barmé "related to Chinese-Australian resistance to White Australia policy, reflecting also the alarm and outrage resulting from the Japanese invasion of Manchuria in 1931." The Republic of China Armed Forces ( zh, t=中華民國國軍) are the national military forces of the Republic of China (ROC), which is now based primarily in the Taiwan Area but formerly governed Mainland China prior to 1949. The armed forces comprise the Army, Navy (including the Marine Corps), Air Force, and Military Police Force. The military operates under the civilian control of the Ministry of National Defense, a cabinet-level body overseen by the Legislative Yuan.
