Vytautas Tomaševičius
Vytautas Tomaševičius (born 1972) is a Lithuanian painter, creating work in Vilnius since the late 1990s. His distinctive style combines a graphite and painted image with an enlarged laser-printed graphic transferred to the painting surface. In 2019 he became the first Lithuanian artist to win the Excellence Award in the Tokyo Art Olympia Biennale. Life Tomaševičius was born in Vilnius, Lithuania, in 1972, to a Lithuanian mother and Polish father. He graduated in 1989 from Vilnius J. Vienožinskis Art School, and in 1998 from the Vilnius Academy of Arts, majoring in painting and theatre set design. He lives and works in Vilnius. Film Since 1995 Tomaševičius has worked as a set designer for international film and TV projects. Vilnius Academy Of Arts
The Vilnius Academy of Arts (, previously ''State Art Institute of Lithuania'') in Vilnius, Lithuania, grants a variety of degrees in the arts. History The Academy traces its roots back to the creation of the Architecture Department at Vilnius University in the former Grand Duchy of Lithuania in 1793. The Department of Painting and Drawing was established in 1797, followed by the Department of Graphics (Engraving), and in 1805 – the Departments of Sculpture and History of art. In 1832, the university was closed, and reopened in 1919 with departments of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Art. In 1940, the art studies in Lithuania were united under Vilnius Art Institute and Kaunas Art School.
