Vridsløselille Prison
Vridsløselille Prison (Danish language, Danish: Vridsløselille Fængsel) is a former state prison (Denmark), state prison located in Albertslund in the western suburbs of Copenhagen in Denmark. It was operated as a state prison from its opening in 1859 to January 2016 and then served as a special departure center for rejected asylum seekers with prison sentences until February 2018. The prison was used for the enforcement of imprisonment and execution of arrests and had a total of 241 inmates. The State Prison in Vridsløselille was a closed prison facility for men over the age of 23. It was replaced by Storstrøm Prison on the isle of Falster, which was opened in 2017. Albertslund is a Copenhagen suburb in Albertslund Municipality, Denmark. It is located west of central Copenhagen, with a population of around 30,000. Albertslund is a planned community or new town mainly built in the 1960s and 1970s. Albertslund Municipality
Albertslund Municipality () is a municipality in Region Hovedstaden on the island of Zealand in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 23,04 km2, and has a population of 28,117 (1. January 2025). Its mayor is Steen Christiansen, a member of the Social Democrats (''Socialdemokraterne'') political party. As of 2010 the social democrats have 9 of the 21 seats in the city council. Egon Olsen
Egon Olsen (born 12 March 1925 (DK), 13 March 1923 (NO)) is a fictional character in the Danish '' Olsenbanden'' film series as well as in the Norwegian remake. He is portrayed by Ove Sprogøe in the Danish version and by Arve Opsahl in the Norwegian. The Olsen Gang
The ''Olsen Gang'' (, ) is a Danish comedy film series created by Danish director Erik Balling and special effects expert Henning Bahs about the eponymous fictional criminal gang. The gang's leader is the criminal genius and habitual offender Egon Olsen and his accomplices are Benny and Kjeld (Kjell in Norwegian). The gang members are harmless, extremely rarely target ordinary citizens, and never deliberately use violence. The first film came in 1968; during the next thirty years a total of fourteen films were made. Herstedvester Prison
Herstedvester Prison () is a prison in Herstedvester, Greater Copenhagen, Denmark, for treatment by the Danish Prison and Probation Service. It houses convicted felons and occasionally people with custody rulings in need of psychiatric assistance and observation. Herstedvester was built in 1935 for the detention and imprisonment of psychopaths. Upon establishment, they were the first European prison to use a treatment method known as democratic therapeutic community. The institution has a capacity of 143 people in the closed section and 23 in the semi-open section. Greenlandic prisoners considered too high risk for the open-style prisons in Greenland all used to serve in Herstedvester.
