Voorhees High School is a four-year public high school located in Lebanon Township, named for Foster McGowan Voorhees, the 30th governor of New Jersey. It is one of two high schools in the North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District, serving students in ninth through twelfth grades from seven municipalities in northern Hunterdon County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Voorhees, Gmelin And Walker
Voorhees, Gmelin and Walker was a New York architectural firm. The parent company was founded in New York City by Cyrus L.W. Eidlitz in 1885. In 1900 he added partner Andrew C. McKenzie and when Eidlitz left the firm in 1910 he was replaced by Stephen F. Voorhees (1878–1965) and Paul Gmelin. Following McKenzie's death in 1926 Ralph Walker, who had been employed for several years with the company, was added as a partner and the name was changed to Voorhees, Gmelin and Walker. In 1938, reflecting new changes in the partnership, the name was changed to Voorhees, Walker, Foley and Smith, and in 1955 to Voorhes, Walker, Smith and Smith. Mr. Voorhees held a senior partner position until January 1959, when he became a consultant. Following Perry Coke Smith's retirement in 1968, the firm's name was changed to Haines Lundberg Waehler, and in its current form is known today as HLW. ''Frames'' is the third studio album by British progressive/alternative rock band Oceansize, released on 1 October 2007 on Superball Music. The album marks the first appearance of bassist Steven Hodson, following the departure of Jon Ellis in 2005. In May 2008, the band re-released the album with an accompanying DVD, featuring a full performance of the album, a documentary focusing on the making of the album, and various live tracks. The package also includes an Oceansize sticker. The band played the album in full on 18 October 2008 in Manchester as part of a trilogy of shows that celebrated the band's ten-year anniversary. Voorhees is a hardcore punk band formed in Durham, England. From early 1991 until late 2001 they released records on international record labels and toured Europe and the USA. History Origins and early years In the late 1980s, vocalist Ian Leck and guitarist Sean Readman were members of Durham straight edge hardcore band Steadfast. In 1990, while still in Steadfast, Leck began a brief side project, heavily inspired by Judge with bassist Buzzard, who had recently been released from prison for grievous bodily harm, drummer Gary Cousins and guitarist Darrell Hindley, who both played in another Durham straight edge hardcore band called False Face. Buzzard departed from the band a few weeks after formation, leading to hiring of David "Brownie" Brown. It is affiliated with the Episcopal Church and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Voorhees Town Center (formerly Echelon Mall) is a regional shopping mall and a residential area located in Voorhees Township, New Jersey. It was built in 1970 and named after Echelon Airfield which was located where the mall stands today. The Echelon Mall was renamed Voorhees Town Center in 2007. Boscov's and Modax Furniture Outlet serve as the anchors of the mall. Property history The site on which the Echelon Mall was built began as an airfield; nearly of farmland bought by flying enthusiasts Rogers and Jeannette Smith in 1939. The Echelon Airfield was incorporated in 1944 and went on to house 20 planes, and included three grass runways, a gift shop, a small café, and a hangar capable of housing six planes. Stevens County, Kansas
Stevens County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kansas. Its county seat is Hugoton. As of the 2020 census, the county population was 5,250. The county is named for Thaddeus Stevens, a Reconstruction era Pennsylvania politician. History In 1886, Stevens County was established. The first settlers came from McPherson, Kansas in 1885, originally naming their town Hugo after Victor Hugo, before changing it to Hugoton. Other early towns included Lafayette, founded by Quakers in 1886, and Moscow, established in 1887. In the late 1880s and early 1890s, a violent " county seat war" raged between Hugoton, which had been designated the temporary county seat, and Woodsdale. Incidents included arrests, kidnappings, and killings. The conflict culminated in the July 25, 1888, murder of Sheriff Cross of Woodsdale and three of his men in the Hay Meadow Massacre by Sam Robinson of Hugoton and his supporters. Voorhees Chapel (Rutgers)
Voorhees Chapel is one of two chapels on the campus of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Built in 1925 with a donation from Elizabeth Rodman Voorhees, wife of Rutgers trustee Ralph Voorhees, the chapel once served the community of Douglass College. Douglass, founded the New Jersey College for Women (founded in 1918), was the women's residential college at Rutgers. The chapel is an example of Georgian period Colonial Revival architecture in the tradition of English architect Sir Christopher Wren. The chapel houses a large mechanical-action pipe organ built by the Karl Schuke Berliner Orgelbauwerkstatt.
