Voodoocult
Voodoocult was a multinational thrash metal supergroup formed in 1993 by German Phillip Boa, vocalist of the alternative band Phillip Boa & The Voodooclub. The project was especially notable for the reputation of the participating musicians, such as Jim Martin (of Faith No More), Chuck Schuldiner (of Death), Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo, and Mille Petrozza of Kreator. The band released two albums and disbanded in 1996 after the release of the second album and a tour. ''Voodoocult'' is the second and last album by heavy metal band Voodoocult, released in 1995. Phillip Boa (born Ernst Ulrich Figgen; 18 January 1963) is a German independent musician, songwriter, singer, guitarist and composer. The musical style followed by Boa and his band Phillip Boa & The Voodooclub was described in a review by ''NME'' as "a cross between B52's and Captain Beefheart". The style of his lyrics is a mix of irony, love songs, sarcasm and is often of bizarre and deranged content. Boa has written over 400 songs, and 21 of his studio albums made it to the top 60 of the charts. Career In 1985, he founded the independent band '' Phillip Boa and the Voodooclub''. ''Jesus Killing Machine'' is the debut album by German heavy metal band Voodoocult, released in February 1994. Release The album was issued on CD and vinyl. The vinyl saw an initial limited circulation of 1,000 and was re-released in a package with the single ''Metallized Kids'' three months later, this time with limited circulation of 1,500. The Japanese edition was released in January 1995 and contained two bonus tracks. Waldemar Sorychta (born 30 October 1967) is a Polish heavy metal record producer and musician who has lived in Germany since 1982. Career He initially worked with German thrash metal band Despair, founded in 1986. In 1994 he took part in the recording of the album '' Jesus Killing Machine'' by supergroup Voodoocult, led by German rock singer Phillip Boa featuring former Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo among others. Later on, Sorychta and Lombardo founded the band Grip Inc. He recorded four albums with Grip Inc.: '' Power of Inner Strength'' (1995), '' Nemesis'' (1997) '' Solidify'' (1999) and '' Incorporated'' (2004). David Lombardo (born February 16, 1965) is a Cuban-American drummer, best known as a co-founding member of the thrash metal band Slayer. He currently plays drums with Fantômas, Dead Cross, Mr. Bungle, Empire State Bastard, and Misfits. Lombardo previously played drums on nine Slayer albums, including '' Reign in Blood'' (1986) and ''Christ Illusion'' (2006). His music career has spanned over 40 years, during which he has been involved in the production of 35 commercial recordings covering a number of genres. Chuck Schuldiner
Charles Michael Schuldiner (May 13, 1967 – December 13, 2001) was an American musician. He cofounded the pioneering Florida death metal band Death in 1983, in which he was the guitarist, primary songwriter and only continuous member until his death in 2001. He became the lead vocalist in 1985 after original drummer and vocalist Kam Lee left the band. His obituary in the January 5, 2002, issue of ''Kerrang!'' described him as "one of the most significant figures in the history of metal." Schuldiner was ranked No. 10 in Joel McIver's book ''The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists'' in 2009 and No. 20 in March 2004 '' Guitar World''s "The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists". Mille Petrozza
Miland "Mille" Petrozza (born 18 December 1967) is a German musician. He is the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of thrash metal band Kreator, which he started playing in as Tyrant in 1982 and renamed into Tormentor in 1984. He is also the principal songwriter of the band and the only member to appear on every Kreator album. In 1994, Petrozza played guitar in the metal all-star band Voodoocult, amongst such artists as Dave Lombardo of Slayer and Chuck Schuldiner of Death. He also shared lead vocals in union with Tomas Lindberg for the track "Dirty Coloured Knife" on the self-titled 2002 album from Israeli metal act Nail Within. James Blanco Martin (born July 21, 1961) is an American guitarist who played with the rock band Faith No More from 1983 to late 1993. Career In the early 1980s, Martin played guitar in the thrash metal band Vicious Hatred. Faith No More Martin joined Faith No More in 1983, four years after the group's formation. He played on the albums '' We Care a Lot'', '' Introduce Yourself'', their breakthrough record '' The Real Thing'', with new vocalist Mike Patton replacing Chuck Mosley, and '' Angel Dust''. Following the release of ''Angel Dust'', Martin left the group for reasons that remain unknown.
