Vonnas Station
Vonnas station ( French: ''Gare de Vonnas'') is a French railway station serving the commune of Vonnas, Ain department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It is located at kilometric point (KP) 16.950 on the Mâcon-Ambérieu railway. Put into service by the Compagnie du chemin de fer de Lyon à la Méditerranée (LM) in 1857, the station would later become part of the Compagnie des chemins de fer de Paris à Lyon et à la Méditerranée's (PLM) network. As of 2020, the station is owned and operated by the SNCF and served by TER Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes trains. History Vonnas station was opened on 6 June 1857 by the Compagnie du chemin de fer de Lyon à la Méditerranée (LM), along with the opening of a 34 km section of track from Bourg on the left bank of the Saône. Chemin De Fer De Lyon à La Méditerranée
The Chemin de fer de Lyon à la Méditerranée was a short-lived railway company in the south of France. It was formed in 1852 and merged in 1857 with the Chemin de fer de Paris à Lyon and others to form the Chemins de fer de Paris à Lyon et à la Méditerranée (PLM). Origins A concession was granted in 1843 for the line from Marseille to Avignon. In 1850 a draft law was discussed to merge the Paris-Lyon and Lyon-Avignon concessions. The city of Lyon opposed the merger since it would threaten its transit and warehouse operations, and it was agreed to keep the concessions separate. Based on a law of 1 December 1851, on 3 January 1852 the concession for a line from Lyon to Avignon, which had been suspended since 1847, was given to a company whose members included Paulin Talabot. Bourg-en-Bresse
Bourg-en-Bresse (; frp, Bôrg) is the prefecture of the Ain department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in Eastern France. Located northeast of Lyon, it is the capital of the ancient province of Bresse ( frp, Brêsse, links=no). In 2018, the commune had a population of 41,248. Mâcon (), historically anglicised as Mascon, is a city in east-central France. It is the prefecture of the department of Saône-et-Loire in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.
