Vocaluptuous is a vocal group from Singapore, known primarily for its a cappella deliveries and a distinctly unique Singaporean identity with original songs. The group currently consists of tenor Hazrul Nizam, baritone/music director John Lee, vocal percussionist/tenor Kai Wen Hwang, soprano Genevieve Seah, bass Chong Wai Lun, and tenor Takuma Tanaka. History Formation Vocaluptuous was formed in 1997 by Andy Quek, the resident arranger and music director who was also responsible for general national awareness of contemporary a cappella music locally and a series of concerts featuring various Singaporean groups titled Aka A Cappella. Jazz
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music. The New York Voices
New York Voices is a jazz vocal group that was founded in 1987 by Peter Eldridge, Caprice Fox, Sara Krieger, Darmon Meader, and Kim Nazarian. All except Krieger were members of an alumni group from Ithaca College that toured Europe in 1986. They began performing as the New York Voices in 1988 and issued their debut album the following year. Sara Krieger left in 1992 and was replaced by Lauren Kinhan. After Caprice Fox left, the group became a quartet. Singapore Day
Singapore Day is an event organised by the Overseas Singaporean Unit under the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (Singapore) to engage Overseas Singaporeans and their families. Held in cities with a significant community of Overseas Singaporeans, it is a single-day annual event designed to give Singaporeans a "slice of home while overseas" through food, performances, information updates on the situation in Singapore and career options to entice them to return to the country. Political leaders would often make unannounced visits, such as Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's visit to the London event in 2014. Mosaic Music Festival
Mosaic Music Festival was an annual 10-day-long music festival in Singapore that featured both local and overseas acts. From 2005-2014, the festival showcased a variety of music genres, ranging from indie-folk to hip-hop. It aimed to provide a platform for interaction between Singapore and International artists. The performances were held at various venues at the Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay.
