Vlastimil Rada
Vlastimil Rada (5 April 1895 – 22 December 1962) was a Czech painter and book illustrator. Rada was born in České Budějovice in 1895. His father, Petr Rada, was a drawing teacher. In 1904 he moved to Prague with the family. In Prague, Rada graduated from a private art school, and, subsequently, between 1912 and 1919, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts. Between 1946 and 1962 Rada worked at the art school affiliated with the Academy of Fine Arts. Rada was a figurative painter. His earlier works typically use dark colours. In the 1920s, under influence of Antonín Slavíček, he switched to impressionism. In the late 1920s, he created a number of monumental landscapes, which are considered his best works. In the 1930s, Rada switched to realism, using mostly brown, grey, and green colors. At the same period, he also worked in book illustration. The Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (; AVU) is an art college in Prague, Czech Republic. Founded in 1799, it is the oldest art college in the country. The school offers twelve master's degree programs and one doctoral program. Antonín Slavíček
Antonín Slavíček (16 May 1870 – 1 February 1910) was a Czech Impressionist painter. He worked mostly in the area surrounding Kameničky. Life In 1887, he entered the Academy of Fine Arts, Prague, where he studied landscape painting with Julius Mařák. His studies were interrupted on several occasions, apparently due to disagreements with Mařák. In October 1899, Professor Mařák died and Slavíček applied to replace him, but was not accepted. The landscape painting speciality was discontinued. An important friend of his was the art collector August Švagrovský. A large number of his paintings passed from Švagrovský's collection to the museum in Roudnice. His wife fell seriously ill in 1908, making it necessary to travel to Dubrovnik for treatment, and he broke his arm during their stay there. Jan Nepomuk Neruda (Czech: �jan ˈnɛpomuk ˈnɛruda 10 July 1834 – 22 August 1891) was a Czech journalist, writer, poet and art critic; one of the most prominent representatives of Czech Realism and a member of the " May School". Early life Jan Neruda was born in Prague, Bohemia. He was son of a small grocer who lived in the Malá Strana district. They lived in Újezd Street and from 1836 to 1838, they lived in Zásmuky, where Jan's father was born. The Slovak National Gallery (, abbreviated SNG) is a network of galleries in Slovakia. It has its headquarters in Bratislava. The gallery was established by law on 29 July 1949. The Lobkowicz Palace () is a part of the Prague Castle complex in Prague, Czech Republic. It is the only privately owned building in the Prague Castle complex and houses the Lobkowicz Collections and Museum.
