Vladimír Weiss (footballer, Born 1939)
Vladimír Weiss (21 September 1939 – 23 April 2018) was a Czechoslovak football defender. As a player he won the Czechoslovak First League with ČH Bratislava in 1959, as well as a silver Olympic medal with Czechoslovakia at the 1964 Summer Olympics football competition. After his playing career he spent time as a coach. Biography Weiss was born in Vrútky on 21 September 1939 and settled in Bratislava in 1958. Between 1958 and 1969, Weiss played in the Czechoslovak First League for ČH/Slovnaft/Inter Bratislava, making a total of 236 league appearances and scoring 6 goals. He won the national title with Bratislava in the 1958–59 season. He subsequently played for Baník Prievidza and Trnávka at the end of his career. Vrútky
Vrútky (; (rare); ) is a town in northern Slovakia, close to the city of Martin, Slovakia, Martin. It lies in the historic Turiec region. FC Baník Prievidza is a Slovak football club, playing in the town of Prievidza. Between 1993 and 2000, Prievidza played in the highest level of Slovak football, the Corgoň liga. Following the 2006–07 season, HFK Prievidza was promoted to the Slovak First League (second level of Slovak football). The club finished in 6th place for the 2007–08 season. Vladimír Weiss (; born 30 November 1989) is a Slovak professional footballer who plays as a winger or an attacking midfielder for Slovan Bratislava. Club career Manchester City On 16 April 2008, Weiss scored in the second leg of the 2008 FA Youth Cup final against Chelsea, in a 3–1 (4–2 on aggregate) victory. Vladimír Weiss (born 22 September 1964) is a Slovak football coach and former player who serves as the coach of Slovan Bratislava. He is one of a small number of people to have appeared as a player and a coach at a FIFA World Cup. Weiss played in the Czechoslovak First League during the 1980s and start of the 1990s until its dissolution, making over 100 league appearances for Inter Bratislava. During this period, he played for Czechoslovakia, making 19 appearances and scoring one goal whilst participating at the 1990 FIFA World Cup as well.
